    Hey I'm re-building my pc but I need some avice. I don't really have the time to search around websites at the moment for pricing etc. I have about €1300 euro and I need a new Mobo, graphics card and Processor.

    I've been looking at getting an Atholon X2 4400+ but don't know what mobo/graphics card to get. And what would be best for future proofing.

    I know I need an SLI motherboard... I've had a look at the DFI Lanparty boards on kompett looks pretty good but a bit expensive.

    The PC will mainly be used for Gaming so I want good graphics. 256Meg card essential.

    I'll also be using it for movies, movie editing and music editing but they're much less important then the gaming.

    Any suggestions or any good priced webites for what I'm looking for would be really appreciated.

    Cheers

    Gogz.

    Unless you actually plan to go SLI you don’t need an SLI motherboard though I can understand if you want to retain the option.

    To be honest no AMD CPU or motherboard you buy now will be future proof in terms of upgradeability. The last S939 CPU from AMD is supposedly the Athlon 64 X2 5000+ which will come out around the same time as the new chips.

    AMD are introducing a new socket called AM2 later this year (July/August) and NVIDIA are planning to launch the nForce 5 series of motherboard to coincide though there are nForce 4 boards with the AM2 socket as well.

    If that doesn’t bother you then this is a suggestion I would make;

    mATX nForce 4 430 [last revision of nForce 4 chipset with integrated graphics plus a PCI-E x16 slot but the southbridge has a passive cooler as the older nForce 4 chips often came with an active cooler that failed, also no SLI support on these. However comes with integrated HD 7.1 Audio & Firewire]

    Graphics cards top of the mid range they are all roughly in the same ball park performance wise
    7600GT
    X1800GTO

    High end
    7900GT or 7900GTX
    X1900XT or X1900XTX

    7900GT offers about the best value/performance in the high end segmant though the X1800XT parts are also a good buy at €400 or lower if you can find them plus you get 512MB of RAM with those which helps a little at very high resolutions.
