BF2 and non-EA/DICE maps

A really quick one, if you don't mind - 'been Googling but all I can find with "BF2, maps, installing, tutorial" are tutorials about how to make and/or edit maps, not simply load new SP/MP maps.

I've just downloaded the El Alamein map & and the Fortress map by Hayabusa, both with bot support, to play in SP on the lappy.

How do I go about installing these, then? :o

It should be easy really as both maps normally come with an installer, i.e. a setup.exe or something.

    What exactly did you download?

El Alamein Day 1 (Bot Support)

    Fortress (Bot Support)

Can't try to install these until tonight. They probably do come with a self-install, I just don't know if I'll need to invoke them as a mod or start BF2 'as normal' (and then they would show in the map selection GUI after selecting SP mode?).

El Alamein had an auto-install, and works fine. Don't bother with it in SP, it's feckin' HUGE (unless you want to train flying stuff & dogfighting, in which case it's quite good and the bots are savage). Would make a good 64 MP map though.

No auto-install for fortress, so I'll dab with that at the week-end or whenever.

Anyhow, I now know how it works (installing new maps) and what have you, so thanks all the same.

    :)

If the downloaded files are zip'ed then they will need to be extracted to something like this:

    C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Levels
