    do you want the job?

All you're missing is around €1 a day after tax

if you're not that keen and feel you can better elsewhere don't take it. If you are keen then you're not really losing much.

    think medium/long term.

3k per year after tax is nothing.

does the job have good prospects, are you going to be learning, enrich your experience, add value to your CV ?

if yes, I say go for it.

If you don't necessarily like the job, if I had a choice(like if you are in decent emplyment now), I would not move even for 45k.

Depending on the areas of your expertise and your experience, the soft development market is not doing too bad in my oppinion.

agree with the guys that it depends on whether you want the job or not but that are talking rubbish that the 3k is nothing.

it's ~100 or so a month, not a euro a day or nothing after tax..

I meant 100 E per month when you are already getting 2800E (approx) is nothing if the job is really good and is boosting your career prospects.

If you did good, you could be getting a promo in a year, bonus, etc ... so really depends on the job we are talking about.

agreed, but if he takes 42 then in a year the best he could really hope for is 46 or so? it's really a matter of how much he wants the job and whether they will move any more. but starting on the highest salary possible is really important as it's the baseline for future increases..

Agree with all that is said ref career etc but as one footnote I took a job at a lower salary than I knew I was worth, was promised a six month review, never happened, still on the same money with a paltry rise (see "should I stay.." post).... if you can guarantee a salary review in six months / a year before taking the job then I would consider it, otherwise, if you feel they're cheapskates, steer clear.... but then if you are able to up-skill and then look around in a year or so then maybe its worth it...

    FBP.

I have to agree with most of the sentiments here - 3k in the difference is nothing, so long as it's a decent job with decent prospects either in the company itself or in terms of medium - long term career advancement.

You're right, I meant €1 an hour in my earlier post, but it's not even that, it's around...

    1500 a year
    125 a month
    31.25 a week
    6.25 a day
    83c an hour

If you're at the stage where that kind of money makes a difference to you taking the job, I would think it's the wrong job for you.

Thanks for all the thoughts guys.

I'd to draw a line somewhere.
Its currently 3K better than my current job.
And would involve at least 45 minutes more each way in traffic.
6K more than my current job would sway me so thats why it made a difference.

Don't underestimate the extra time or expense (if in a car for instance) I left my last job due to a long commute and calculated it out at around 3k a year... you'll not see much of the 3k in yer pocket if you're in traffic using up the petrol by the minute...

    FBP..

45 mins MORE each way? Thats has a huge effect on your quality of life. Possibly your health. I'd want to be getting a lot more out of it than just money. it would have to be a serious step up career wise and salary.
