    Hi Guys,

We have a gig coming up shortly and going through our setlist, most of our songs are slow to mid tempo.

Since we don't want to put the crowd to sleep does anyone have any good lively songs that has gone down well in previous gigs you've played.

We are the typical cover band U2, Green Day, Chilli Peppers etc.
We want to avoid the Brown Eyed Girls etc. as we still if possible want to like the songs we play.

    Any suggestions would be great.
    Cheers....

Try something more retro perhaps, gives the audience something of where your coming from. My band would play the odd cover of Doors, iggy pop, the who, velvet underground, jimi hendrix which seemed to go down well. Or slightly more modern try joy division, buzzcocks, pistols if you want energy.

I think its a good idea if you gig to pepper the setlist with covers, I think that the audience would go home remembering you as the band that did a stonking version of "all along the watchtower" (for example)

Sabotage by The Beastie Boys - Excellent cover if your singer can pull off the rhythm.
Basket Case by Greenday - Goes without saying. Pretty easy song all round.
Eye of the Tiger - Survivor ... totally doable, yet not over done.
Dearg Doom - if you can pull this off ye are gonna get a great reaction.
Centrefold by J Geils Band - has a nice Irish riff to it, should go down nicely.
Just a Girl by No Doubt
    Footloose by Kenny Loggins
    Kick Out the Jams
    Wild Thing
    etc etc etc etc...

The list goes on and on and on man. Don't restrict yourself to modern music, if people appreciate a live band then they'll most likely remember more music then the last 5 year's charts.
