    Hibernian
€1650 with the partner discount. TPF&T
24 , 2 years ncb (at time of taking out policy last may)

This year all indications are of a €1150 quote from hibernian, so I'll see what I can get it down to with shopping around.

Prices are dropping dramatically for me this year. I just checked hibernian and am getting quotes of €1240 for a 3.5 Honda Legend (hope to get one middle of next year)

I'd like to know what excesses young drivers in the South have to pay. For all the things I've heard about the high premiums in the South, on the face of it the premiums seem to be cheaper than those faced by under 25s in the North.

    1.4 LITRE 2003 FORD FOCUS
3 years full license, 3 years no claim ( had 5 years but had an accident causing 300 euro damage to other car)

Got my renewal in the door the other day .insure.ie (mike murphy brokers ).
1037 Euro fully comprehensive ..they told me they have researched the market and these were the best terms available for this year
Rang them up ,told them i could get it for 850 euro elsewhere (even though i hadnt researched )
Put me on hold, came back and they said my insurance premium would now be 820, they could match and beat the new offer i supposedly had

Amazing what one phone call can do ..saved myself 200 euro.
I have the same telephone call every year with my insurer and every year they drop it

AXA are the best though. They seem to just make up random numbers. I rang them before my last renewal, they quoted €920 fully comp. I told them I had been offered fully comp for €420 and they said, well we can't go that low, but we'll give it to you for €640. They're a gas bunch.

My borther is with Quinn, and his renewal quote was €900 euro cheaper than last years, ie €2600 in yr 1 and €1700 in year two. He is still on a provisional licence. Only difference to dceire is age and location. My brother is 21.

My first years Insurance was €4000 with a broker, 2nd year with Quinn was €1800, now down to €1400 now that i have a full licence. I'm 22. That's a big price drop in the space of 18months. As i said in a previous post, i hope to have a larger car(1.6+) for my 3rd years insurance with a quote of less than 1000(fully comp). Nay too shabby. I'll be doing the Ignition Course come the summer too.

30 year old male driver, no points/accidents/claims/convictions/medical conditions, car parked in driveway, 13k miles a year, single

1998 BMW 520iSE 2.0, €15,000, no modifications(?) except for BMW approved alloys (AC Schnitzer)

Open drive, windscreen cover, no-claims protection, comprehensive

From the back of the field, we have:

    Quinn Direct - €940

    Eagle Star - €926 (no open drive, so with 3 named drivers - 2 60year olds & a 35 year old)

    Quoteline - €928 (breakdown & legal costs)

Topquote - €918 (breakdown & fire brigade expanese & 31 days foreign driving)

    AXA - €912

Hibernian - €867 (step back protection)

    FBD - €827

    Allianz - €773.76

    AA - €767.56 (no open drive - 3 named)

One Direct - still to come back with quote. Obviously too busy to bother!

After haggling (ie, threatening to pull other policies) with FBD: €750

Well as it happens, just today I got the renewal letter from Quinn in the post.

Male, 30, 1 year NCB, provisional (damn waiting lists), 1.3 Auto 1998 Mitsubishi Mirage Coupe, no claims, and they want €1425 (down from about €1800 last year).

    BUT....

WHen you look into their DD options, they have a "service charge" of €95 included which brings it up to €1520! :(

Is this a standard thing? I've rang a few places but most seem to either want 3 years NCB (as I'm still on a provisional) or seem cheap but have a catch (€1140 from 123.ie, but with a €4000 excess!).

Any recommendations on what to do? Should I call Quinn and argue with them over the service charge (seems like a blatent scam to me) or can anyone recommend a company that will insure a provisional driver without the need for multiple years NCB?

    Cheers!

By DD, do you mean Direct Debit - if so, over what time span? A loan for the same amount from a bank over a year would cost much the same.
