Well well well

I have set the date for the next Team event. I am going away this Friday (24th) so want to be sure this date suits before I go. If it has clashed with any major event that I don't know about perhaps people could post here to let me know.

Next date: Saturday 13th May


Entries for this event will be E20 + E5pp with 8 players per team.

Mods I haven't listed all the details as I am just checking the date. I tried to find the details I posted for the last team event but can't find them in the forum. The structure etc. is the same for this one- maybe you can cut and paste it into this thread to save me typing it all again. If not I'll retype it and post it once the date appears to be ok for everyone.

nooooooooo!!! if its any time in may you will lose your entire student market (not just the dead money DIT team!) due to exams. Even late April you will lose the majority of these players. If May suits everyone best go with may but my suggestion would be June 3rd/4th as there will be ZERO football on as the World Cup starts the following weekend and its before most people will start taking holidays. The following week (June 9th) you'll clash with World Cup and Croke Park concerts.

more or less May 13th will probably suit alot of people but it also clashes with the english FA cup final that no doubt alot of people (but not Arsenal fans!!) will want to watch.. 13th doesnt suit me so i'm advocating June 3rd cos i'm selfish like that!

Students these days, studying in advance of exams. Wouldn't happen in my day. All nighters are your friend!!!!!!

Nothing quite so exciting about starting to study for a subject you have only been to 1 lecture on, the day before the exam. Amazing what you can cram when you put your mind to it.

Don't think there will be much happening for the last day of the premiership unless Chelsea have more weekends like last weekend, I'd be happy with most weekends as it was so good the last time that I would put it ahead of most things, except the Cup final maybe.

Game starts: 1pm

General info:
18 teams of 8. This tournament is strictly a non-pro event. All teams must have no more OR less than 8 players. All teams must be part of an established recognised club/association entering under the name of that club /association. All entries will be veted to ensure they fit the profile. The type of entries we are looking for are.........

college poker societies, etc,

varius websites such as poker.ie etc,

repitable pub tournament organisers (staff are allowd play however teams must consist of minimum 5 members)

established recognised poker clubs etc,



Finances:
Entry: E20 + E5 reg per person. (E160 +E40 per team)
Food suplied
Perpeptual trophy suplied
Cash prize for winning team and top 9 individual players

This tournament is absolutely non-comercial.

Game Type:
No limit texas holdem. Freezout

To start- 8 players per table. No more than one player from each team per pable. Tables will be closed in reverse numeric order (ie. table 8 is first to be closed etc.) If a player needs to be taken from one table to fill an empty seat the player to be moved will be the next big blind on the highest no. table. We will use cards with the table and seat no. for each player throughout the tournament..............if a table is being closed the cards representing the empty seats will be put face-down on the table and each player will draw a seat. The only position a player cannot come into on a new table is "small blind". If a player comes in as "big blind" it's unlucky but so be it. Tables will be kept at an average and as close to 8 players as possible throughout the tournament.

Every 30 mins as follows

1:30pm 50/100
2pm 75/150
2:30pm 100/200
3pm 150/300
3:30pm 200/400
4pm 300/600
4:30pm Break incl food
5pm 400/800

6:30pm 1,000/2,000
7pm 2000/4000
7:30pm 1,500/3,000
8pm 2,000/4,000
8:30pm Break (Estimated 12 players remaining)
9pm 3,000/6,000
9:30pm 4,000/8,000
10pm 5,000/10,000
10:30pm 7,000/15,000
11pm 10,000/20,000
11:30pm 15,000/30,000
12am 20,000/40,000
12:30am estimated time of finish

Prizes
Winning team.......15% of total prize money


Individual cash prizes.........
The following % of remainding cash

1) 33%
2) 20%
3) 15%
4) 12%
5) 10%
6) 4%
7) 3%
8) 2%
9) 1%


How a team scores points:
Points will be awarded to the top 18 players as follows:
1st 18pts
2nd 17pts
3rd 16pts
etc,
etc,
.........
............
...............
17th 2pts
18th 1pt.

The team with the highest accumilitive score wins the cup.

If it is succesfull and interest is there I intend to run it quaterly with the winning teams name engraved on the cup and kept by the team untill the next event.



I wouldn't worry about the cup final with United out there'll not be much interest:D

Ace High will probably make the trip FROM Tipp again.
Personally I would make a change or two to the points. Have the scoreing down further the line down to 50th place will make it more interesting and make players think abouty making moves or not and the effect on their team.
I would also have a greater difference between 1st and 2nd than 1point.

I thought you were going to make it dearer this time something like 50+5 pp.

Jeff, I was just being honest - and the DIT team really missed my presence at the last one!

It's gonna be tough to get a team together for May, but I'm gonna try my damndest, starting at tomorrow's game!

Dub13, your point is well noted - but having a team of Students is vital to the success of this tournament... Who else will everyone have the opportunity to grumble about?

Its in Ireland, i doubt anyone cares too much about a minimum age as long as you can get into the anglers.

I owned my own computer company at 16. That was in the Netherlands and I sold my own brand computers.

At 18 I also had my own Internet provider company. Then I closed the computer company and sold the Internet provider to to come to Ireland.

Now I'm 24 and own 2 Internet cafés. Though its a downwards spiral, since I had 4 a year ago! Another one or two years I reckon, then move on again. Not sure yet what I'll do next.

But to answer the question you didn't ask. Our best tournament player here in Galway is 16 years. He wins about 50% of the tournaments he plays...
