I am considering upgrading the RAM on my computer - its about five years old with 933 mhz pentium 3 and presnetly with 128 Mb of Ram . I would like to upgrade the ram a up to about 1gig or 512 mb .

How much does it cost , which is the best and most suitable to get and how would i fit it?

Are there any difficulties with fitting the Ram and will it speed up my computer much?

Speed wise you will notice a difference with 512MB or 1GB compared to the 128MB you currently have with much less paging to disk.

P3's pretty much used SDRAM so odds are that is the kind you have in your system. You can confirm it by using a utility like CPU-Z go to the memory tab it should say something like SDRAM PC100 or PC133.

For compatibility, some older motherboards support (& do not support) DIMM's in a variety of ways if you were going for 512MB of RAM I would play it safe and get 2x256MB sticks same goes for 1GB with 2x512MB sticks.

I would recommend Crucial RAM as it is very reliable and Crucial have a great system on their site if you have a brand name PC that will tell you the correct RAM to use & you can buy direct from them so it is guaranteed compatibility wise.

You can also purchase RAM from elsewhere like Shop4Memory.

Installation is a cinch open up the PC look for the memory slots on the motherboard remove the 128MB stick and plug in your two new memory sticks (they are keyed to go in only one way) put side of PC back on and power on the computer.
