    Deftones announce Dublin date

Purveyors of modern day metal Deftones will round off their tour of Europe with a gig that will please their Dublin-based fans.

Chino Moreno and his band of not-so merry men will be airing their plentiful back catalogue, added to by their recently released B-Sides And Rarities compilation, when they headline the Ambassador on July 7.

Expect to hear classics like 'Bored' 'Back To School' and 'Bloody Cape' from the Califorian crew.

    I agree.

Is it the "modern day metal" label that does not fit? Killer band - would not place them in a metal camp myself, large punk following.

Not from proper Punks, maybe from people that think Green Day/NoFX/Bad Religon are Punk

    Rock!

Can't we just let these threads go? No? If it's the kind of thing that will interest some people who like punk then I say it should be allowed. Other bands always get discussed on band website forums. What's the difference?

You only say that 'cos u like more non Punk bands then actual Punk bands

punk should be defined in the charter/a list of talkable bands should be put in it. i can't believe the amount of times its been said here...tho in fairness, deftones??? I thought their popularity left with static x and limp bizkit

If this board was kept to "real" punk bands, there'd be about 5 threads.

I have the album before that. As regards posting about "non-punk" bands - other bands are discussed on different band's forums purely because bands don't usually actually have an area specifically for discussing those other bands. Borads.ie, however, does. End of story. Fair enough talking about a band in the context of another thread but starting a thread about metal bands in a punk forum isn't really all that helpful.

Anarchist - just because bands don't all sound the same doesn't mean they don't deal with the same issues and express similar opinons.

An attitude - not a ****in sound. Get over it.

Excuse me if I'm wrong but the whole idea of punk is doing and TALKING ABOUT whatever you want. Just give it a rest, lots of people who like Punk would like Deftones. I for one think they are fantastic and I think of myself as a punk fan

this is a music forum, not a attitude forum, so i think its to do with the 'genre' punk, deftones are not in that genre... not that i'm opposed to a bit of diversity IF the genre isn't covered elsewhere on boards...ie SKA :D
