I've been thinking about getting this

I was just wondering if it was really worth E300 of my hard earned yoyo's.

What is the main reason anyone would get a PDA? Can it handle VoIP?

    Any opinions welcome.

I've got an O2 XDA IIi which is basically a PDA with phone. My main reason for getting it was for a Phone, an Mp3 player (~ 700 songs, stick it into car raidio aswell). It also has pocket word/excel/powerpoint etc so you can save and edit docs etc. Its great for ebooks etc aswell. It has Wifi as you'd expect and a full IE browser aswell as MSN. Runs Skype grand aswell.

Im not sure if your into gaming but theres plenty of emulators available so you can have the "classics" from SNES, Mega Drive even PS1. I find it handy to have the phone and pda built into one though, handier then carrying around both.

I've heard very good things about the Axim though, Its faster (at stock) then the Xda and has a gfx card and so it should run movies/games alot better and you can easily overclock if you want to (my 520mhz is going at 624). The lack of a phone is a big drawback for me anyway

I would say to get an XDA II Mini, I'll be getting one when my Vodaphone contract is up. Although they're only £99 on contract in the UK.... Don't know if they're cheap/available in Ireland.

    Gandalf23,
I got one out of the blue recently, I did not think i would have much use for it.

I thinks it's great, it plays simple games, you can read books, carry all emails, contacts.

Mine also covers as a remote control for DVD, TV etc.

I also use it for playing music.

I think it is a great little device put i wouldn’t spent to much money on as the novelty could ware off and you could never use it.

My Xda came with Clearvue PDF viewer. Im sure there are many other 3rd party PDF viewers/editors available. Loads of apps are being ported to PPC format.

About 2 years ago I purchased an Axim. I used it for all the usual organising my life, watching movies on the plane, mp3's and as someone already mentioned, emulators (the old Atari 8-bit classic Star Raiders once kept me entertained from Chicago to Dublin - that's almost 8 hours!). I also used it for WiFi, but I have to admit it was a pain.

These days, I am more of a Smartphone kinda guy. I had the old Ericsson R520 brick, now I am using the P800 and hoping to graduate to the SonyEricsson P990i. The key for me is that the 990i has everything - Wifi, Bluetooth, camera, organiser,mp3's and videos, FM radio and it can take memory sticks should I run out. I now prefer to have everything in one package.

Yeah the PDA is great, I use mine for holding all my phone contacts and address's. I send the odd important email from it, by using it via my mobile phone.
Oh, and its a GPS aswell when plugged into the receiver in the car.
