Was in Harvey Normans yesterday and they had a free phone offer on from Eircom..

You had to sign up to one of their talk time packages ( I signed up to the €27.99 Talktime basic option) then you get a free phone like this worth €50..

You can get the twinset for €29.99!!

Will you actually get it though?
They promised me a free phone before, but despite numerous calls and e-mails (to which they never responded once) we never got it.

You get it there and then in the shop and bring it home with you!!

Hard to believe, I was extremely sceptical myself when the sales guy said it to me.. but there was no hidden catches, not that I am aware of yet anyways:D

I'd call having to sign up for anything eircon have on offer a "catch".

Personally I think Eircoms Talk packages are really bad value.

UTV offer unlimited local and national calls in the evening and weekends for free. You just pay your line rental to them as normal, unlike Eircom there is no extra cost.

Stay with eircom for line rental, sign up with euphony for their €10 a month "all you can eat landline calls day or night".

Best value around for peak/offpeak landline calls.

With out going off topic,Viking what do they charge you for mobile calls?.I see they have a bundle option to buy mobile minutes but if you dont have this whats their per second rate. I have looked on their site but it shows nothing and have sent off a couple of emails but they are just bouncing

    Cheers

Found this rate card on their site which has the mobile rates:

Just to say a big thanks to Branners69,already had their "anytime talk package €39.99" so downgraded this morning to their basic package and went in an hour later and signed back up to my "anytime talk" package without any break in service:D . Also signed up the girlfriends number to the basic one and if she was to change her mind in the morning;) she can cancel it(as it is not a binding contract) and keep the fone. Again Branners big up to ya

My dad was in getting one and apparently the offer extends to €50 off any of the phones in Harvey Normans once you sign up!!

So if u want a particular phone get to Harvey Normans and sign up to eircon's talk time basic and get €50 off!! As Cubix says above its not even binding!!

Does that mean I could cancel it the minute I get home and still have the €27.99 left in my bank a/c?

There is a 14 cooling off period for all these types of deals, you can cancel the minute you get home and you can keep any promotional gift.:D
