its a prototype multitouch screen interface
i've been told that apple hold all the patents for this at the mo.
can you imagine literally painting in photoshop with this? or as the demo shows, digital dj-ing!! those finger commands look so much better

Brillaint looking, especially the map and photo bits... Apple are said to be working on a multi-touch screen for a tablet ibook and/or a new iPod... Who knows how it will be used though, it could just be like touch screens that already exist or it could be like the videos concept

Yeah that's amazing... I was actually shown that in a lecture in college, it's pretty cool. It's great how technology is progressing :)

here a link to an article on mac rumors
it again deals with patents apple is persuing with touch screen technology

but like everything else it takes time, we probably wont see any actual products for a year or two, but the future looks good! i feel bad for microsoft, they seem to have gone the wrong direction with their os, they should abandon it and develop a new one and get designers of the same calliber as apple involved. everyone know unix is the way to go.

Didn't nintendo patent something of a similar nature recetly or at least the news was leaked recently. And I'm not talking about the DS but speculation was that it was the DS's sucessor.

Great technology though. Love the photo bit.

that is just the coolest thing i've evr seen. I work using protools a lot, and to think in a few years time i won't need hardware controlllers to twiddle knobs. YES

Yeah, there was a patent out there from Nintendo, but it was registered before the DS was even made, so no-one is sure if it's a possible successor or just the early concept for the machine on the market at the moment.
The only difference between the ds patent and what we actually have (besides slight design differences) was that they suggested you could use two fingers to control the screen rather than just one, I'm not certain if you can do that on the actual existing DS.

Yeah, I read that they registered it ages ago so it might not apply to the DS mk2 but certainly would be cool. You can't use 2 fingers withthe DS at the moment, the screen only recognises 1.

    Nice bit of kit though.

This has been doing the rounds for quite some time ... based on much the same technology i would have imagined (and patented) ?? and comes with software to build your own control interfaces (thinking more music/video orientated here)
