Good god, I didn't realise that, unable to watch most of the races, i've won on at least two of those and recognise most of the names, that's absolutely awful, sad week for connections.

On many levels it looks like a very poor year, with the exception of Brave Inca and Sky's the limit we haven't any new stars and see some of the greats bow out. The novice races have all failed to throw up the new star we had hoped, the likes of Denman and Sweet wake turned over, the bumper was even won by a horse that had already been beaten twice which is unheard of.

With the exception of the Champion hurdle the championship races have resembled top class handicaps so far. The handicaps have been even worse with exposed outsiders going in again and again, it's hard to find any Monkerhostins or Migthy Man's in the handicap fields, horses that will step up to graded company next season.

Let's hope friday will show us something special, hopefully Mister Height will be the real deal and War of Attrition or Forget the Past will step in to fill Kicking King's boots.

Worst one yet for me. Infact a very bad month. I've lost about 1,500. That's it for me, no more betting. I'll still have an interest in the sport itself, and still moderate this forum.

Sorry to hear that, i have always wondered about horse racing in general why the betting aspect in the sport basically makes it such a attraction for people as supposed to the skill and bravery of the jockeys, and the horses :(

I dont think f2b meant that this was the worst chelters betting-wise. Anyway, if you couldnt make money today you might as well throw your hat at it.

You say that now but you will change your mind. You have to take the losses as well as the wins. Buy a book on stats and start laying;) Then blow all your winnings backing.

Speaking of laying, you may start now by laying Hedgehunter for the Nation. Lay your Betfair bank on it.

The Supreme Novices' certainly felt like a poor race but I think in the R&SA Hurdle, Nicanor and Denman seem well above average. Overall, there's definitely a real lack of strength in depth in the various divisions. Still the best 4 days of the year though. :)

And to add on to the original post, unfortunately Sh Boom and Buck Whaley joined the list of fatalities at the festival. :( A sad statistic for racing that 9 horses died over 24 races and one which the general media latched on to more than anything else, which is not good for racing's image.
