The Poker Channel one year on.

If I remember correctly The Poker Channel was launched around this time last year,I think it was a couple of days after Paddy's day.In my eyes it has been a big let down,far far to many repeats.I don't watch much poker on the TV as I play far to much and when I look at TV the last thing I want to do is look at poker.When the Poker Channel was launched I was looking forward to some behind the scenes stuff and a few documentary's.

Maybe its just me expecting to much,maybe the masses want endless repeats.I don't even check whats on as often these days two many times it has been the same old tripe.I wounder how many people watch each night and if its increasing or decreasing.

Massive disappointment. The worst is when i occasionally flick onto to it to find they are covering a .05/.10c game with automated 'check' 'fold' 'fold' 'fold' 'raise' comentary.

Really is brutal. At least the poker zone channel has commentry when they cover internet games, and sometimes bring up some interesting points. Far too many repeats from both.

I am now tuned to player channel 123 for my tv poker fix, showing the wsop over the last few days.

I quite like PokerZone actually. Decided to start playing on the TV tables tonight, as soon as I got on, they changed to a STT, so annoying. Ah well there's always tomorrow....

I remember when it started it looked promising. They had a few good shows and the feeling was it will get better with time but it just got worse and worse and worse and then when you thought it couldnt get any worse guess what! it got worse. They used up every show they had after three weeks and then it was just continous repeats of crappy shows:mad: player on 123 though is class in my opinion(esp. as I love kung fu moives, boxing and motorsport:D ). If it keeps it up it would be great. Although that tilt show is brutal, massive disapointment.

yea, rarely watch it now. Challenge/Player is much better although they do show too many repeats and "celebrity" games also.

I think at one stage the Poker Channel had a thing were on a Tuesday night it was "new night" or something like that,wounder what happened to that idea.

Yeah they gave that up after three weeks cause they ran out of showa:rolleyes: premiere tuesday or something.

I'd have to agree it has not become what it could have. I haven't watched in a while but last few times an episode would end abruptly before the actual end of the program. I remember watching an interview with Simon Trumper at the WSOP and it ended with him mid sentence, then an ad break followed by the next program. This happened alot. Very unproffessional.

yeah big disappointment. probably hasn't helped their ratings that their channel number was recently moved. it now sits in between all the radio stations nobody listens to and all the porn channels i don't have

poker night live can be decent on pokerzone (when it isn't amateur night of course). sometimes they'll have very interesting and thought provoking discussions.

Where is it gone?
I turned it on last night and it is gone from Sky's EPG, used to be on 226 or 265. Anyone channel its on now, or is it off the EPG

Not sure what channel number it is but it got relegated to Others on the main menu.

go to sky 1, press forward on your remote...past the comedy channels, past movies, past music, sports, discovery, even past all the home shopping and religious worship channels. then keep going for another half hour or so past all those channels you never knew you had and past programmes on vegetable slicers and home gyms presented by E-list celebs and eventually you'll hit the gambling channels.

or you could just go backwards from sky 1 and you'll hit it a tad quicker...:rolleyes:

I loved the programme 'The Poker Godfather'.

Ashley Alderman: Listening to a totally wrong and laughable theory from his student replies 'Interesting point'.

They didnt make enough of these programmes and like everything else just showed them over and over. 'Barneys home games' were very good too. It could be a much better channel if they wanted it to be.
