Turn up and Just tell the judge you can't do it. Or send a letter in.

No worries and 63 euro is no way enough should be 33 gees.

I got called, and told them I couldn't go due to college, and it was fine. Dunno if that's your case or not.

Got called.. but was during my Leaving Cert about 5 years back!

Is it true that if you're asked once.. you'll never (or very unlikely to) get called up again?

Shame.. wouldn't have minded doing it! :)

got called to do it on a jury once and case was thrown out after 5 mins because a witness made a slur against the defence.

No. You can get called up again.

I was called up and couldn't go as I had a holiday booked for the dates they wanted. But I was called up again within a year.

Is it true that if you've worked in the mental health sector for two years or worked nights for two years you aren't allowed do jury duty because you perception of reality has changed?

I certainly don't recall reading anything like that on any Jury summons I've recieved.

I heard that primary school teachers cant be called up for duty after 3years of being qualified..any truth in that??

Don't think so, neither that or the mental health part... Although maybe the latter could be seen as an essential service, I dunno.

i was called up once, the case was thrown out cos the druggie admitted it...so we were sent to lunch, (paid for) and were told to come back the next day. i just went home instead and never returned.

If you have to be somewhere send a letter in. They won't make you go.
But if you just turn up and carry a copy of the Irish Times and wear a suit you will be challenged. At least I have heard that you will always be challenged if you wear a suit.

sorry to burst your bubble but from the people i know that have done jusry duty it is actually more likely that you may get picked again to do it.

That and you have to have a valid reason for not doing it and with that they may just postpone the service for a few weeks. As my brother inlaw got called up last month but was going on holidays for a week so they postponed the service to the week after he was back.

Just as a matter of interest why don't you want to do it

A week?? And you were not even used?
When i was called i spent half the day there.. was done just after lunch. but it was only 1 day.. You saying you had to keep going back every day and see if you got picked??

Anyway i thought it was interesting.. i wanted to get called.. thought it would be a great experience.

I was called after 2 days, it was interesting enough. Nothing earth shaking but pretty cool all the same. Also you get a free lunch every day if youre on a jury :D

Only those that work in the legal system cannot due jury duty such as Gardai, lawyers, judges and prison officers.

I also believe theres limits on other emergency services and defence forces but Im not looking it up.

One sure way of not ever getting called for jury service is strike yourself off the electoral register :)

Is there anyway of increasing your chances of being called? This sounds like fun! Plus, I get to put a scumbag away, regardless of whether he/she is innocent or guilty this time....FUC*ING FREE LUNCH TBH!

Whats the story with that? could you claim to be a strict bavarian bovinarian and only eat fillet steaks with lashings of beer.
