What is MS Windows current market share?

    Hi all,
    I was wondering if anyone knows what MS Windows current market share is as compared to other operating systems (Linux, Mac, etc)? I'm interested in the desktop OS not backend server stuff.

    I'm also interested in finding out the market share of MS Office as compared to other "office" software such as OpenOffice or StarOffice.

    Any links to reliable sites or research very much appreciated.

    i would estimate in the region of 85-90%

    EchoEcho have Windows marketshare at 91% of all the sites that they keep track of. Suprisingly, Windows 98 is more common than 2000. The stats are about half-way down on the left-hand side.

    Why is it so difficult to get reliable figures on this.
