BF2+SF Crashing

    Hi all,

I'm having a problem where BF2 with SF (patched to 1.21) is crashing to the desktop directly after going fullscreen (the blackness after the splash screen). I'm running an AMD Athlon 64 3700+, 1024 Mb RAM, Point of View GeForce 6800 GX 128Mb, and ALC97 Realtek sound on an MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum mobo. The mobo drivers are 5.10, as elements of the 5.11 are known to kill it (found that out the hard way). GFX drivers are 81.98, but I plan to change those to the 84.20 betas due to flickering badness being experienced in X3:Reunion. I only bought BF2 quite recently, so I started from the 1.2 patch. Played a few games online, then out came the 1.21, so I applied that, and here I am. Unable to play at all. Any ideas, gents?

Some people have fixed this problem by installing the FULL 1.21 patch and not the 13Mb update patch.

Thanks Ponster, I'll give that a go tonight, so.

Any other possibilities, just in case? ;)

Well you could try deleting the BF2 folder in /my docs/ which contains the gfx info BF2 needs to boot up.

People have to do this when they change gfx card or monitors.

Applying the Nvidia 84.20 beta drivers did the trick. No more crashes, and I didn't even need to download/re-apply the full 1.21 patch. :)
