I got a new camera recently and was playing around and having some fun with BB poses. Great laugh!!
Got one of my back and thought it looked cool.
So anyways considering there's so many BBers here why dont you all post a pic of yourselves in some pose or other. Just a bit of fun!
    Here's mine...

Nobody nearly ate you :p , were responded to you doggin on what we do dude.

    Plain and simple.

I term myself bodybuilder because i work in the 10 to 12 rep range predominantly with an aim of my hypertrophy. That doesn't mean i look like Ronnie Coleman, or feel the need to put pictures of myself on the internet!! :D

    Ah im disgusted now...

I suppose i dont particularly dislike BBing just somethings about it and its competitors. I actually include some BBing elements in my training like on Hams and guns. (dont tell anyone!! but ive a very good reason for working Bi's and tri's)

Im totally against Mr Olympia though and the way it has gone. Huge genetic drugged freaks that can barely walk. Its against everything nature intended and is extremely unhealthy. Ive seen a dvd on Cutler recently and he could barely walk to the fridge. Id much prefer to see a functional mr olympia where the competitors are judged on a 40yrd dash and bench or squat too. Never happen though. Bigger is better even if its silently hurting a lot of people and kids. Id hate to see the size of Mr Olympia in 2020. 350lbs of muscle on a 5'10 frame. Who wants to see that?

this is the reason i came on so strong before about BBing. I just dont think its functional or healthy at mid to higher levels. I see lots of guys prancing around the gyms in their string vests and loaded with some stack they cant even pronounce and it makes me sick. A lot of them arent strong relatively and are unable to run. Better to be obese than a BBer. its just not natural.
I also saw a dvd of glenn ross and you all might say he's obese and must be a walking heart attack but not so. He says he's much healthier now than when he was a BBer and 5% BF one week 15%BF the next

It just doesnt seem right to me

And i'm with you, but still, it's crazy to see the size those guys can push themselve too!!!!

All in all, back in the day when people had to look good and lift big is much better, the bodybuilding was combined with a powerlifting element!

There is a "Mens Fitness" Competition that is run each year ( well, it's only two years old! ). These guys have to look well, be well developed by have an even flow, they needs to be athletic and gymnastic!

In my mind it is a much better competition. At the end of the day though, you really need to mix up your training and cover all your bases. It's why i'll do sprints, rowing, cardio cicuits, "bodybuilding", "powerlifting", "strongman training", grip strenght training, martial arts etc, often many of them within the same week!!!

While i'm on the hunt for size, i also want to make sure it's functional, and never do anything to compromise my overall health as well!

In a way i agree about ronnie coleman, hes just too much muscle, the first time i saw him ( didnt know he was mr olympia then ) i actually felt sick looking at him, even his face looks like it is built like a tank. In my honest opinion the person with the greatest physique was Arnold Schwarzengger, he wasnt as big as ronnie but he had good muscle size and definition, hes the inspiration im looking for not ronnie coleman.

Because_I_can I find your offhand and uneducated comments about bodybuilders to be quite ignorant.

Labelling them as unhealthy and unfit is simply wrong. There's exceptions of course but majority are quite healthy.

Ok you're right i have been ignorant to BBers. I didnt intend it. I was just trying to explain my earlier standing.
But i do think their muscle is not functional. Levrone is an exception among them.

Bodybuilders/ powerlifters/ oly lifters all pretty much have different goals in mind and I don't think anyone can say that one is more of an athlete than the other. Fair enough while powerlifters and oly lifters have immense strength, most bodybuilders push their bodies to another extreme, but because the gains are mostly aesthetic, they can be shot down as taking part in the 'weaker' side of the sport. So to a certain extent, no, their muscles are 'functional' in comparison to other lifters, but they are developed way beyond what is acheivable for most people. Yes, BBing is full of drugs, but can you honestly say that drugs are not rife in many top levels of professional sports? There are those who use, and those who don't. Drugs are not exclusive to the world of lifting. BBers take their bodies and push them to the extreme reaches of what is physically possible, and personally I can't help having a huge amount of respect for that. I'm not pro-drugs in any way, but I do know that the drugs do not perform miracles- behind the steroid use is a rigorous training schedule and a life devoted 120% to the sport. Physicallyand mentally it is one of the most gruelling things a person can do to prepare for a BB contest and stand on a stage in front of hundreds, maybe thousands, of people who will literally take your body apart piece by piece and analyse its symmetry/ size/ development.

Regardless of the discipline, top athletes deserve recognition for the hard work they put into their game. And drugs? well that's a whole other issue for another day...

Yeah but define functional. I think if anything, because most top BBers incorporate all training ranges to get the maximum growth (including PL training), that they are functionally strong in many ranges. Obviously not as strong in any given range as some-one who specialises in that range, but still pretty damn strong. The other thing is that their CNS won't be so adapted to any one particular lift like someone who specialises in that lift, rather than a muscle tissue issue (rhyme!). I mean a good olympic lifter may have trouble holding a shelf in place for a few mintues while someone nails it into a wall because their muscle development is for explosive power rather than a static hold, so in that case their muscle is not functional. Glenn Ross might be feeling happy and healthy, but if he fell down a well and had to pull himself out up a rope - is his muscle functional? (plus, and no disrespect because I admire his abilities but, the dude is a walking heart-attack whatever he says about his health).

At the end of the day, I'm not denying that there is a clear difference between someone who trains for aesthetics only and someone who trains with some strength/perofrmance goal in mind, but I just think that the opinion that some people have that BBers can't lift more than 30lbs is wrong. I also personally, like Dragan, train in many different things, and I don't shy away from a football game, for example, just because it's leg day tomorrow or anything. I'm flexible too, and not about to pull a muscle just because I stand up too quick :D . Also, I'm not a bodybuilder - I just train, and learn what I can from whoever I can, and it happens there's alot you can learn from BBers. You probably got the impression that I was a BBer because I tend to defend their sport a bit - I guess I just have to admire the work that goes in, even if I wouldn't want the results for myself.

I've seen lots of people argue back and forth online, Olympic lifters saying BBing is crap, olympic lifters saying PLers are relatively weaker, PLers saying 'relatively' doesn't mean a damn once you get to the big numbers etc. It's a bit like the useless natter that goes on between different martial arts on online MA forums - at the end of the day, who cares? Just pick your own goals & train for them, and if you can learn something from someone or share something you've learned along the way then all well and good.

    Edit: Lookin' solid BTW
