My other question is i am ment to be starting a job on monday i havent signed a contract yet, and to be honest if i got offered amazon i would jump at the job beats the new one hands down. But i am worried at amazon actually arent starting till may and if i sign a contract i could be stuck there?

I went through an interview with them, and I could help if you applied for the same position type.

What position did you applied for ?

From what I've heard they are a great company to work for, and from the manager told me durring the interview they have very serious plans in Dublin.

sorry mate, I went for the Software Dev Engineers, so probably the interview will be different.

    In my oppinion:
HR interview - they will ask questions from your CV and they will drill down a bit about your role in different projects to get an idea about your competencies
Hiring Manager - trying to assess your technicall skills and see how you fit in his team.

You could tell them straight away, that you have an offer in hand, and if they think you are a strong fit to let you know straight away.

From my experience they will cooperate.
Good luck and I think it's worth waiting even until may if you could get a job in there.

    Stuck - yes and no.

Companies are quite used to people jumping out only a few weeks into a new job, so they tend not to make a big song and dance about it. Though you won't get any kind of reference. Chances are if you're only there a few weeks, you won't serve any notice, but accordingly won't get paid any notice.

Wouldnt bother me not havin on a reference being honest.

    That's a good sign.

Be confident(without being over confident), and be 100% convinced that you will be able to do the job, and the job is yours, because you'll be really only competing against yourself, because they have so many slots opened.

The big manager wants to see your enthusiasm and motivation for the job. Tell him that this is exactly what you wanted, and you will be very happy and challenged.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I heard that due to the number of applicants that management at Amazon have decided to withraw the original commitement to pay €23000 for call centre agents and are now offering €17,500 instead

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,659 ✭✭✭PowerHouseDan

Really, I have a few friends who have the call agent and they were told that it was 23k, Awaiting contracts either tomorrow or thursday... thats a 5.5k Drop in salary!

anecdotal. have a friend who went to Manpower and she was told €23,000. she asked at the interview and was told that they were reconsidering the salary. she was then called yesterday and offered the job at €17,500. she turned it down. Are you sure your friend is going to be getting the €23,000 originally promised

just got confirmation from another source. Amazon are renegeing on their promise to pay €23,000 and the rate for the high skilled graduate jobs that they are bringing to Cork with much govt funding is to be €17,500. just above the minimun wage
