I'm guessing I've broken some esotric rule  but couldn't find anything in the sticky. Apologies if I have.

Ah cheers, game on then. Anyone know if you can get hand histories from Tribeca tables for pokertracker without playing in the game?

Dont think so. Works on Full Tilt and a few others. I had 17 tables open on FT for 2 days before I started playing. Found a few fishies that way.

Dont see why not. Is it legal to watch a game for a few days/weeks before playing it live. ie watching for people willing to stick it in with an overpair when checkraised in omaha.

It's not legal to have somebody play a few hands for you on Paddy Power, so it's probably not OK to observe a table you're not playing either.

Some sites don't allow datamining. Stars for one. Party also removed the ability to Datamine with their latest upgrade. But others don't care at all. i.e. Prima, Full Tilt, PokerRoom (although you need to buy a piece of software). I'd be very interested to hear of it was possible to datamine Tribeca though. Also, if someone was to write a programme that would allow this then you could make quite a few $$$$ selling it on the PokerTracker forum.

It's not against any law at least - we don't have laws governing these types of things. The pokerroom companies might not want you to do it but, meh.

Are there any programmers out there who know how to grab the text from the dealer window? If somone can show me that with C++ I can do the fiddly bits.

surely, by that rational it would not be okay to watch tournaments on telly? Or, am i missing a point?

Think clever jab at PP and you're half way there.

I am a professional programmer (amongst other things :) ). It is very easy to do that. I created the famous infobot robot for MTGO for example. How much are you paying me? LOL

Personally I think you should do the whole thing yourself and try to sell it. All it would have to do is rip the text from the open dealer windows - up to 4 of them, and format it like the handhistories that Tribeca exports.

If you dont want to then if you can give me code that will rip the dealertext to a textfile I will do the rest and try to sell it and give you 10% of sales.

I like the "try to sell it" part. Not my style...
So I'll take that 50% you meantioned instead. :D

I am taking a small holiday this weekend and will be back Tuesday. Think about what you want and *if* you want it. E-mail me and I will make such software.

I can do the lot, including a database, statistics and whatever else is needed. Let me know what sites it should work for ("Tribeca" doesn't 'do' it). Also I need to know exactly what it does. I am not sure what datamining in this context is/does. I assume you want to know what player is of what poker-type. But don't players change? Like starting players improving rapidly. Or players who login one night drunk and then when you play him/her next day you may get cleaned out because your thought (s)he is crap?

In any case. I need to know what information is to be stored and what it is going to be used for (so I know how to store it).

    Very interesting.

Can you tell me this Flibble - let's say a hand does not go to showdown.

Even if it does go to showdown you don't get the same info as with Party, PS or Full Tilt.

EDIT: Oops misunderstood the question. I guess I don't know what the HH on tribecca is like for pots that dont go to a showdown.

Just who raised, how much and their position - the same as you get from the hand history. As far as I can tell the only difference in info between HHs and the dealer window is the stack size of the players (and date and time but this can be added yourself).

This data is used by pokertracker to build up stats on how passive/aggressive the player is, how often they attempt to steal blinds etc. Most hands do not go to showdown but you can learn alot despite this.
