Irish Passports, do they have radio tags in them?

    I just got a new passport and noticed that the picture page is now on a sort of thick plastic card. Does anyone know if they card has an RFID in it? They are planning on introducing them in the states but I didn't realise they were coming in here!

    Im interested as there is a risk with these things that they can be read from up to 15 feet away which I'm not to happy about! Even if they are encrypted!
