Any one know what causes dark circles under your eyes? No matter how much I sleep I get I have them. Any one know of products which help?

Skin about you're eyes is very delicate so any bit of abuse, late nights and what have you will give you them

Mine are criminal, four layers of foundation and concealer and they still shine through, trying some No7 eye gel stuff (offer in boots w/ vouchers for No7). im not expecting much out of it though

Dark circles can be caused by dehydration, try drinking 8 glasses of water a day and see if that helps.

dehydration is the main one, other than lack of sleep and late nights but caffeine and diet and everything can contribute too.

Yep, they are hereditry and not enough sleep, booze, caffeine

I've heard that if you drink a few glasses of cranberry or dark grape juice it can clear them up, not too sure on this though, i've not tried it myself as i dont really get dark circles. maybe someone else has tried this?

I haven't heard this before, but I drink at least two glasses of cranberry juice a day & still have fairly noticable dark circles!

Yep you can buy tubes of arnica cream in the chemist, the one I have is made by Nelsons. Don't know about the pill's, not sure if they'd help, creams probably better cos u can apply it straight on the bruise. Hope it works for ya:)

ok, first off here is a quote:
"Do you know what actually "causes" serious dark circles? I thought I did... but I was wrong. Like most people, I thought dark circles were caused by hard partying, working late, being tired or simple allergies. But according to most research dermatologists, serious dark circles (the kind that make you look old, tired and exhausted) are about, of all things, the oxidation of hemoglobin (blood) in the capillary matrix of the peri-orbital eye area. What a mouthful!

These capillaries actually "leak" blood that begins to oxidize (through a process called hemoglobin degradation)... creating a dark bluish-red pigmentation that looks distinctly like an ugly bruise.

What does all that mean in plain English? Tiny little capillaries deposit blood around your sensitive eye area. The blood turns deep purple and you end up looking like you just went 12 hard rounds in a boxing ring."

Now the product that will fix it... it's called Hylexin... can be found at http://www.hylexin.com/hylexin/

I haven't been able to find it in Ireland, but spotted in New York last year... it's not cheap, about 99dollors, but it is the only thing i have ever found to help. i had tried every thing, and i mean everything to get rid of the dark circles, it is genetic, and as is quoted, not from lack of sleep or any of that! people were always telling me i looked tired and exhausted when i wasn't!! it p'd me off, so i just spent the cash and all is good now!!

Check it out, and hope it helps,

    G

I though green was for reddness, and yellow was for under eye circles? although i guess undereye circles can be reddish, hmm maybe i'll give this a go.

Apply cool tea bags, an ice cube wrapped in soft cloth, or cucumber slices to your eyes daily. The tannin in tea bags has been shown to reduce swelling and discoloration, and cucumber slices have long been used to reduce puffiness and refresh the appearance of skin around the eyes. Lie down, preferably in the morning, and leave fresh cucumber slices or cool, damp caffeinated tea bags (you can refrigerate them overnight so they’ll be ready) over your eyes for about 10-15 minutes. Keep your eyes closed.

If you have particularly dark circles use a yellow/apricot concealer. Apricot for darker circles, like what Indian women get under eyes.

    Dab it on, don't drag!

Sounds weird but i said id add my penney to this thread. It was mentioned in another Thread that Preparation H (used for Piles i was told) is great for dark Circles under the eyes. Im using it a few days now notice a small difference but nothing major. Some people swear by it. Give it a go...plus its much cheaper!

I love Benefit's Ooh-La-Lift. It's lovely and cooling on puffy eyes too.
