Faulty HD on new PC

    Hi all
I went to set up a new Dimension 5150 last night but the hard drive was faulty. Ran diagnostics and they failed (Return code 7) and ran chkdsk and came back with 1 or more unrecoverable errors.
The user only has 1 year collect and return support. Should I demand that Dell deliver a new PC. I know from work that they will probably try and fob me off by bringing out a new hd. Im doing this as a favour so would prefer not to have to do a new windows installation. Is there any likely hood of me getting a new PC seeing as it was only delivered last week

Not too sure about Dell but for both HP and Compaq PC's if they go faulty in the first 30 days they are classed as DOA (Dead On Arrival) and a new PC is sent out. Tell the support guys it is DOA and try to get a new PC. Tis only fair!

I lost a Dell disc about 2 years into a 3 year warranty ..... hard disc replaced and I was asked "do you want us to reload Windows? ..... yes please :p " ..... and it's still running at year six ... :)

Just after getting off the phone from the Indian Technical support. The have agreed to replace the PC as part of the & day contract. They were fairly helpful and didnt get much hassle
