Just lately it has generated the most annnoying crackling noise.

All the time, or just some times? Have you changed the location or anything recently, is there any power leads near the speaker cables. Have you checked all the connections?

    I figured it out,

This Pioneer is one of the ones with MCACC. It set the speakers up arse ways. I just manually configured everything and its sorted itself out.

    All sounds perfect now.

    Will keep ye posted
