I need help with this!! My friend told me to remove norton antivirus from my laptop, but it's not in the control panel add/remove programms thingy. and the 'livereg' thing won't remove cos aparently norton needs it. How do I fully delete Norton??? Anyone??

yeah it can be nasty to remove, why do you want to anyway

well you can totally prevent it from running by...

    goto start, run
type in msconfig.exe and press enter
in the msconfig window goto services and tick the hide all microsoft services box, now you should have only about 8 services listed, untick the box beside any one that mention symantec or norton

then goto startup tab, and untic besie all the lines that mention symantec or norton, then just apply and reboot the pc

You need a tool from Norton to completely remove it (RNAV)
    Start here.

AVG is better re: performance wise & detection rate. However, keep in mind that it is just anti-virus software. You will want to download & install a personal firewall as well.
