You use your xbox controller, and I'll use the mouse... deathmatch style...

Keyboard + Mouse > Controller for ANY AND ALL FPS.

It's like the basic rule of gaming. If you were to pitch two players of even standards agaisnt each other on an fps, one with keyboard and mouse, the other with a controller .... the k&m player would totally pwn the controller.

You can aim very quick and easy with a mouse, unlike a controller analogue stick.

Now, im not saying BF shouldnt be ported, its a good way for EA to line their bulging pockets with more green ... and DICE to get a bigger share value on the Sweedish exchange. But tbh, a console game *port* is very rarly better then its pc origional.

I'd love to see BF2 on the Xbox360 and have it use normal servers. Pitch XboxLive players against regular PC players. Would be sweet :)

Ok so ports arent always that good. however i use to and sometimes still do console game. Now the thing on K&M v. Controller really depends on the mouse. For instance the analog stick won't go "stickyball" (when the mouse will move but cursor dosn't) but using a trackball (like mine) a K&M player would totally pwn:D

I hate when people use this feckin arguement, ive proven this to my brother already certain games are better played with a controller, Halo being a prime example, but in fairness ill use the keyboard and mouse for any PC game :D

If I could plug a keyboard and mouse into an Xbox and play Halo I would kick a lot of ass in Halo :D

Halo is the most overrated game in history imo.
Started off as a decent fps but about a third of the way through and onwards it was rubbish imo.
Played it on both xbox and pc,pc version had exact same ai locations etc as xbox, what was a challenge of sorts on xbox was a walk in the park on pc,nuff said on which is best control system even if halo is infact the best exponent of fps joypad support.
Gamepads and fps titles = lol.

Got agree, halo was one of the most repetitive games i ever played. It looked nice but that was it.

the controller vs keyboard/mouse debate rages on. it seems sony is going to camp on the fence next time since ps3 will fully support keyboard/mouse on ALL games along with the controller

ah sh1te, i didn't know bout the engine bein the same, this has put a bit of a downer on my wanting this game.

Has anyone else seen GRAW, it looks ok but i hate the red diamond thing on the enemies it it a little too dumded down for my liking, there's nothin wrong with a dot on the radar but highlighting them on the screen like that really doesn't appeal to me

If all youve ever played is console games, then youd be fairly used to using a pad and could probably do well at it, i was a big quake 3 player on the dreamcast & ps2 (my pc was so **** back then i couldnt even run Q3 on it) and having only played console FPS's i was pretty adept with it. Its all subjective, if youre a console gamer youll be fine for fps's with a pad, if youre a pc gamer youll do just as well with a kb & m. Youll never get a ps2 vs pc gamer 64 palyer game of BF2 online, so i dont see the point in comparing em.

To be honest, i enjoy the simplicity of a controller, i am way more comfortable playing with one. what i find is bad about the console games, even with sensitivity way up is that the characters turn and move really slowly compared to keyboard n mouse.

I feel i have a more fluid movement with a controller but i have way quicker reactions with k&m. Fps are all about quick reactions so k&m will prob win out but for comfort a controller all the way

I think the keyboard and mouse actually have some huge drawbacks compared with a game pad.

I normally play PS2 games bacause i don't have a gaming PC, but over the last week I was living at my mothers house watching her dog while she was on holiday so i decided to get BF2 and give it a go. The first thing that struck me was the sheer pain in my hands from forcing my fingers into such a cramped position. WSAD are too close together, to spend a long time concentrating on them, and then if you have to force your pinky down to the z button while pressing w and s together it's really uncomfortable. I'm sure you get used to it after a while, but it's definately not natural. On the PS2 game pad there are 18 buttons all within easy and natural reach and they're split evenly between 2 hands. on the PC you would have to reach most of those buttons with one hand while your mouse hand controls the shooting and pointing.
When i wsa playing battlefield on the PC i was having huge trouble reaching all the necessary buttons, i'm sure the better players are used to all of these and can do so quickly, but on a console, the developers are forced to be more clever with the control method. A simple example is jumping, standing crouching and lying prone. These are extremely important manouvres and they can mean the difference between dying and surviving On the PS2 all of these functions can be controlled with one button (there are two for reverse cycling but you only need one) on the PC you have 4 different buttons and they're all hard to reach while you're moving and shooting at the same time.

The analogue controls offer pretty good control once you get used to it, compared with a mouse it's not as precise, but the mouse has its own problems, the cord gets tangled up, you run out of space on the table if you are doing a lot of turning in the heat of a skirmish. Mouse wheels get blocked and stuck regularly.

I prefer console gaming for several reasons.
    1. it's a level playing field. all PS2s have the same processing power and with BF2 the speed of your connection doesn't have much of an effect on lag, so players don't have an advantage just because they can afford a PC that allows higher resolution and longer drawing distances. When I was playing BF2 on the PC with the options on low, i often found myself getting shot by tanks that i couldn't even see. that's not fair. The Graphics were worse than on the PS2 game and there was a bit of slowdown. Also, i get so pissed off having to download updates and patches almost everytime i want to play and the loading times for games are way longer than they are on the PS2 which means it takes about 20 or 30 minutes before i can even start to play. on the Ps2 it's about 5 minutes for an online game.

The thing is with WSAD is useing your middle fingers to use WAD and your pinky on either CTRL on SHIFT and your thumd on SPACEBAR. also whenever you can PRATICE BUT on A+A its very hard to move :D
