    Unless you are somewhere wierd the Woodcock Hill is far the best reception.
    IMO Mullaghanish and Maghera are both fringe quality in Limerick City.

    It's even getting an upgrade next week or so.

    Doesn't anyone know how to work Google?

    Google: UHF channel frequencies UK

    Sorry for the delay in responding to you Watty. thanks for the frequency chart.

    unfortunately all I can pick up with antenna is TV3. trying to pick up an antenna signal in this part of the city is like stargazing in a floodlit footbal pitch what with interfierence from local taxi companies and wht not.

    anyway I have decided to bite the bullet and get magnet in. thanks again for the help.

    Magnet is Broadband. Not real TV at all. Maybe your aerial cable is faulty or wrong aerial?

    If you are ANY place in Limerick city you can get 4 perfect channels on a "yellow" cap Yagi outdoor, or even on a window sill that point sthe correct way. Or putting the Yagi on top of a wardobe or in the attic. The other three channels are slightly better than TV3.

    Chorus analog MMDS or analog cable are both better for TV than Magnet.

    In any case, you can DEFINATELY get four perfect pictures with correct aerial and cable anywhere in Limerick city. Magnet is IPTV, not even true digital TV. Only go to magent if you want BB. Not for TV.
    39 	615.25  RTE1
    42 	639.25  RTE2
    45 	663.25  TV3
    49 	695.25  TG4

    Something is very brofken if you can't get 4 DVD quality pictures. Note some of the "bow tie" aerials are rubbish:
     ----
    | >< |
    | >< |
    | >< |
    | >< |
     ----

    Also the "bow tie" / quad array are very wideband. They pickup lots of interference

    Some "rabbits" ear aerials are only for VHF.
    Some setop aerials don't work

    AVOID any amplifiers or amplified aerial if you are near taxi base!
    A setop aerial like this *MIGHT* work upstairs on widow sill, wardrobe or attic
    |_||_|_|_|
    | || | | |

    (Top view, aerial cable moulded in to fatter 2nd element)

    Go electrical factors at Crossagalla Ind Est, nr. Tipp roundabout / Eastway.
    Get a yellow cap Yagi about 2ft to 3ft long
    ||_|_|_|_|_|_|_|
    || | | | | | | |

    (Top view)

    Some new coax cable (get foil covered satellite cable as it blocks interference better)
    New coax plugs
    Try again and save lots of money at get pictures 8 x better quality than Magnet.

    Woodcock Hill is getting upgraded too about now.

    You could also try putting a UHF bandpass filter in your aerial lead to cut out the taxi interference (In assuming the taxi's base in question uses VHF)

    Or even a VHF/UHF diplexer can be used as a filter (if the overload interference is from VHF and all the required TV channels are UHF), put it in line and leave the VHF port disconnected - this should do (though purists would terminate the VHF port with 75 Ohm resistor).
    It (or any filter) of course has to go between the aerial and any booster (not after the booster), which would be a problem with a set-top aerial with a built-in booster.

    The sound frequencies will work directly with any FM scanner radio.

    If using a scanner to hear the sound its worth pointing out that the nominal carrier frequencies are often 'offset' (to lessen co-channel interference). In this country the offset is usually of a value of 40kHz (approx) plus or minus. This is no relevance when tuning a TV but it is when using a scanner.
    Set scanner to WFM (wide FM) for TV sound. NFM (Narrow FM) will give distorted sound, but allows weaker signals to be heard.
    This list may be of use for hearing TV sound on a scanner
    http://www.frequencydb.com/database/index.php?&table_name=frequencies&function=search&where_clause=`frequencies`.`Type`+=+'Television'&page=0&order=Frequency&order_type=ASC

    With System I (in use in Ireland and the UK) the sound frequencies are 6MHz above the Vision frequencies

    1156.350MHz Euronews as heard in clonmel

    Huh :confused:

    Strange frequency or is it a typo ?

    One thing that I do find annoying, especialy with televisions and VCR/DVDRs is the use of "Channels" rather then the Frequencies. We have a TV at home that only tunes in channels, so a channel transmitting on a frequency between one channel and another such as BBC2 on Waterford NTL Analogue is not watchable. The same problem happened with my TV tuner on the PC. The programme would only scan the channels not the frequencies and since every country has different "channels" it ment that when I selected Ireland it would not tune TV3, and the channels it displayed did not correspond with the channel numbers on my VCR. If I selected Germany I could tune TV3 but then the rest of the tuned channels would not be watchable as the software would use only one country "set" at a time.

    If the software tuned in Frequencies this problem would never have happened and I could have just happily scanned away from 45-850MHz and tuned in all the stations available.

    I had a similar problem when tuning my DVDR when I selected Ireland. I could not get it to tune in the stations from the channel list on my old VCR. So I had to select "Other" in order to get them to tune correctly. But it would have been so much easier if I could have just keyed in the frequencies.

    So why dont equipment makers just set everything to work in frequencies rather then Channels, or at least give the option, like my old Philips VCR did.

    Some devices have NO channels or frequencies, just a bargraph. Some have a special setup menu that lets you select Frequency or channel number.

    I have no problem selecting Frequency on the TV card on PC. Download a different application.

    Most people find the channels easier. On my PC software for EACH channel I store I can scan / add by Irish Air channel, Irish cable channel or frequency.

    Its probably safe to assume it was a spurious response of his scanner from a strong UHF signal (probably TG4 when it was relaying Euronews)

    A lot of scanner users don't appreciate it is common for strong signals to 'appear' (i.e. not actually there) on other frequencies owing to the deficiencies of scanners
