just about any tv card will do it. i use this one: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=a04bk&doy=11m3&source=15

it has coaxial, composite and s-video in. i've plugged a vcr into it with no problems and an xbox would work just as well. besides the card you'll need:
    for the video:
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=1019&criteria=phono&doy=11m3
    for the sound:
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=31700&criteria=jack%20to%20phono&doy=11m3
    and you might need:

an xbox would work just as well.

While it will display the Xbox picture, there will be a delay of almost half a second - not really much use for playing games.

What would you recommend then instead? I'm thinking of doing the same setup.

The delay is nowehere near half a second. There is a small but noticeable delay though.

Depends how picky you are really.

Ok, I've just checked the link above, I now see it's a PCI card.

My TV tuner card is USB, and there is a delay of almost a half a second, it would be less with a PCI card.

The amount of image enhancement filters you use seems to have a bit of an impact on the amount of delay aswell.

I used to use DScaler with all the enhancments cranked up as high as my PC could handle for playing my Gamecube, and there was a maybe 50-100 ms of lag, never measured it.

With all the image enhancements off it was a lot snappier, just looked much worse.
