i want to burn up a cd of a random collection of songs from my mp3 folder.

What's the best way to do this?

What are you asking? How to burn them, or what's the best way to make them random?

i just want something to pluck out 700Mbs of mp3s from the My Music folder and either burn them directly or put them in a folder that i can do it.

Best way would be to hold Ctrl and click the ones you want. Personally I'd load Nero and just drag the ones I want into the editor window.

If you don't have Nero, just copy the ones you want into a new folder and burn the entire thing to disk, then delete the folder.

Even better, you could sort the folder by filesize (thus making the order random), and just select a section from the middle of the list.

Hold CTRL down and just select random songs with your mouse with your eyes closed. I am series about this :) The only problem with this is that you could press an already selected one, therefore unselecting it

If you use batch files to do the copying
    echo %random%
    set /a number=%random%/100

Itunes allows you to create "smart playlists" of eg N songs, X m/gb, T minutes/hours and to choose songs randomly from the entire library or other playlists.

You can then burn them to audio or data disc.
