Ah christ.... I'm in Tralee, just about to run to the bookies to get a bet on in this. Is it still suspended?

Probably because the final declarations are out around now.

24 hour declaration time alright but I thought for a second there was an abandonment. Card goes ahead today so that answers that

In the Imperial Cup tomorrow there is a horse called United i fancy.
It hasnt run since last April but has only run 3 times and has won all 3 (including a grade one last time out).

It was due to run in the Champion Hurdle next week at Cheltenham but has since been pulled out and is now entered in the County Hurdle on the Friday of Cheltenham (its 16/1 on betfair for this)

An added bonus for the race for this saturday is the withdrawal of favorite Studmaster and Motorway.
Other positives are the trip and the forecasted conditions (all 3 wins have been on soft)
The only negative is the fact that its the horses first run of the year (although could be a good thing as it may be fresher than the rest)

Anyway its currently 11/1 on betfair but i can see it being a bit lower come the day of the race

I'll be very interested to see if United is backed, looks the class horse in the race by some distance. Having not raced in a year it's hard to know if the race will be needed. Connections are planning on going for the 75k bonus by running again at Cheltenham.

Talking about great minds there 20Legend, posting about the same horse at the same time. But as I said I'd hold off on backing it until I seen some decent support.

I've been fortunate enough to be on it for its 3 wins including a sizeable amount last time.
But as you said it best waiting to see what sort of interest it gets tomorrow but its definately the stand out horse in the race for me.

What about Victram, only got 10st 3lbs and if held up a bit longer for the long run in, may get there this time. Ground mite be the only suspect thing for him.

United has been my horse for weeks in this (mentioned it on wednesday) and he has been backed all the week.

Seems we're all going to be on.

14-1 at the moment. Confidence has wained a little.

Lucy Wadham has always been careful about where she places United. Tomorrow she's worried that the ground and top weight will anchor her chance of winning. She's probably after the 75k bonus of winning here and at Cheltenham.

    What about Victram,

Its been tipped on the William Hill online radio station so enough said. Kalappi in the 2.20 was their NAP - so you know what 2 horses to stay away from tomorrow.:D

They also tipped Spurs to beat Chelsea and Newcastle to beat Man Utd.

I think Ursis has a great chance,he loves cut in the ground, trip ideal, should be suited by fast pace, fitz on board, looks decent value at around 8/9-1 with question marks over alot of the other market leaders.

This was the horse William Hill said that was unlikely to win - said something about a jockey change. Worth a look.

I Was a litttle worried about the jockey change as AP has ridden to each of his 3 success' but i think mich fitz is an able substitute,i presume the reason AP Has swithced to Tarlac is the fact he is retained by JP McManus although Tarlac appears to have a good chance

The last time I really fancied a horse that McCoy left I didn't back it for that reason. It won easy at 5/1 with much higher odds available. You cannot read all that much into jockey changes in such a big race me thinks. This is a very competitive race , its not the type of race you would put your house on.

The market this morning isn't good news for United. Plenty available at 21 on betfair. He's 14's and 16's with the bookies, although that'll come around to the betfair price this afternoon I'd imagine...

It might be an idea in this race to dutch a fresh low-weighted type and a more classy high weighted type.

Which is what I'll be doing. Each way on united, the win on one of the horses at the head of the market..possibly Victram.

The lack of support for United coupled with the comments from the trainer have put me off backing it to win, but 4/1 is a really tempting place price.

My win bet will be going Nous Voila who will relish conditions today, looked to have his last outing in the bag when finding nothing so the drop back in trip will suit. I might be left to eat my words but I can't have favourite Tarlac at all, only just won a very average handicap last time and has gone up 8lb for that.

Elsewhere on the card I give decent each way chances to Hibernian and Eric's Charm in the first two races.

I have a pain in my head from looking at it to be honest. It's a real head scratcher. Don't think there's a Medison in this field though.

I went e/w on both United and Victram so I was pretty happy with Victram.
It was a close enough call at the end but Victram just got it.:D
    Sandown 3.20
    1st 22 Victram (IRE) 8-1
    2nd 4 Dusky Warbler 20-1
    3rd 10 Verasi 33-1
    4th 16 Lunar Crystal (IRE) 20-1

Eric's charm hacked up, had him at 16/1.
