So what do ye think all?
Are they gonna cause trouble? The german riot police are in training at the moment preparing for it all and they will most certainly be ready for them. They aint gonna take no s**t.
Im gonna be working in an Irish pub over there during the World Cup. I hope they behave themselves during their stay, for my sake! :)

Two World Wars and One World Cup, Two World Wars and One World Cup, Two World Wars and One World Cup. I can see it now, German Police and Watercannon :D The only time I have ever seen English fans behaving abroad was during Euro 96, As they were able to get high on Dutch Cannabis:eek: and were too doped to fight.

Deport anyone caught causing trouble and ban them from the country.

Will be living in back in Cologne during the world cup. England-Sweden is taking place there. Oh joy. Hey Tiesto, what city you going to be working in?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,553 ✭✭✭Demetrius

Well hear something about them alright

I must ask though, do Germans have riots? Are they carried out in an orderly, efficient manner, goals achieved when set?

ill be in Nurnberg. English vs Trinidad will be there.
Im glad that bavaria is one of the ,if not the most policed province in Germany.
On a regular day in Nurnberg, you would see police on every street corner which is great. So i cant imagine what its gonna be like during the world cup!

Afaik England hates Germany when it's about football, so it's not so unlikely, but I think they should be more worried about the Dutch fans...

Saw the riot police and dogs etc in training a few weeks ago at the Hertha/Schalke match at the olympiastadion in Berlin, (they weren't expecting trouble, it was routine practice to be prepared for the World Cup big occassions) anyone stupid enough to cause trouble around those things is asking to be brought home in a wooden box! By Christ, I've always had a bit of a fear of dogs, but these things were non-canine! Plus, their handlers had submachine guns!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,509 ✭✭✭Tiesto

haha yeah will be interesting to see the response of the German police if something does kick off. But as i said, i think they will be welllll prepared.

Wow, they must be terrible then. You've only seen them behave once? Apparently their 1908 tour of Bohemia and Hungary was also uneventful. But everything else was just a mess, sure didn't they destroy Switzerland in 1954 (I can still see all those broken cuckoo clocks), Mexico in 1986 and both Korea and Japan in 2002.

The report that I just saw on the news said that the police were more concered with the Polish and Dutch fans, and that one of the England games will be somewhere where there is a big German hooligan gang that they are expecting to be going out to bait the English for a bit of a rumble.

I can honestly say that from my time spent in Germany they really do not take any sh!t. I predict there will be riots and all that crap but i think you will see far more of the police dealing with it.

The Germans are a very proud people and will most likely have a zero tolerance policy.

All I can say is English skinheads Vs. German riot police...my money is on the riot police.

    Permission to laugh out loud.

Netwhizkid, if you're going to completely make up stuff to smear the English and impress us all with your globetrotting insights, you should at least check out the stuff first.

Damn, just wish I spotted that before kdjac...

So because they're in training you automatically think that they're going to just prepare for the English fans. I'll be going myself and I'll be going to a few away games during the qualification for the European Championships so I will see at first hand what will happen.

Dutch and German hooligans are much worse these days. English football fans are amusingly still the bogeymen. Most of the worst offenders are banned from travelling to the WC anyway.

German police were saying they are more worried about the Eastern Europeans. Should be a laugh. Dutch, Polish, Italian and english fans, with a few of the local turkish people thrown in for good measure.

Thats a lie, i remember the images of English fans rounded up in a Dutch/Belgian square after causing a bit of trouble around it. Those police took no **** either. Also I remmeber the comment, from one of those rounded up to a riot policeman- "We helped ye in the war and this is what you do??" Hmm, indeed

    Pfft...
    Everyone hates the English...
    including the English, we sneer
at each other for being so English
So what are we doing here?
In England - it's full of the English
    All over the country, why?!
    Anyone ever born English
should shut up, or sod off, or die...
    - Kit Wright

Anyway, the German Polizei look like they're well-prepared, and a lot of Scotland Yard and Special Branch forces will apparently be operating over there in conjunction with them. Fingers crossed anyways...

This thread is about football hooligans, so why did you mention the riot? Nothing to do with what so ever.

Your right, it does appear people cant read.

ah, so its ok to talk about english football hooligans, but its not alright to mention irish rioters?

    whats the difference?

Two different contexts of violence. Were talking about football hooligans, not rioters. There been a million other threads about the riots, no need to turn this into one.

England have a history of football violence, this thread is wondering will it happen again at the World cup, nothing to do with small group of chavs with nothing better to do.

Anyway, if you really want to make it a general discussion on riots, we can include all the ones that have happened in England if you really want.

go for it, i just believe its incredibly hypocritical for people in glass houses to throw stones.

maybe youre just very nationalistic and cant bare ireland being compared to the english?
    or maybe youre just blinkered?

WhiteWashMan- anti orange march violence in Dublin by Irish people has as much to do with football violence as the riots in LA in 1992. The Dublin riots were a mix of determination to stop the march going down our main street and general criminality, as most riots are. However, English football rioting has no cause except to fight foreign cops after too many cans of Carling.

I would, however, have a feeling that if the English ever return to Dublin for a match in the near future it could well be the Irish kicking off the trouble, despite our good abroad rep.

Oh, and btw the only reason there was little or no football violence at the world cup 2002 was because there arent enough long term unemployed knackers from Stoke on Trent and Millwall who could afford a costly trip to the far east.
