Table of figures - word

What does the title need to be classified as in order to be recognised for a table of figures? I have tried help but nothing I see there explains it properly.

What I mean is, when creating a table of contents, word recognises lines specified as "Heading 1" for example. I have tried setting the appropriate line (e.g Figure 3.2 Aeroplane) as "figure of tables" but this doesn't seem to be working.

    Anyone?
