I know. Hate them. They shouldn't show anything good - just chick flix and action movies.

This place has gone right down the fuckin' toilet since Cineworld took over. The service is terrible, the quality of what's on offer is just as bad. I know cineworld can't really be blamed for it, but twice recently I've seen staff fighting with each other, once with actual punches being thrown.

And cinemas wonder why they're losing money.

They've recently changed the terms and conditions of the unlimited card - the telephone booking service will be discontinued from March 24th. This is probably one of the main perks of the card. I also see that they still advertise the booking service. When I enquired about the changes in the cinema, the girl at the unlimited desk, or the manage knew nothing about the changes. I also see that the website and the promotional leaflets list the booking line as a feature, so they're signing up new customers based on a feature that does not exist!

I miss UGC... the sweets have gone up in price too.

Also, has the 'buy your ticket before 1 for €4' deal gone?

while we are on the subject, does anyone know what the cheapest Cinema in Dublin is?

    That's insane.

Just use your credit card to buy a student ticket over the internet.

UGC used to be one of the best cinema's in the city for price and choice; they had the screens to show indie films with the big budget, and the prices were great... the unlimited card was a great idea too.

    Shame

I ddn't know you could do that. Do they ever ask for ID?

Have stopped going to the flicks and recently cancelled my unlimited card.I just dont find it a pleasant experience anymore.Prices are extortionate, people arrive twenty minutes into the film, kids sitting with their phones on,shining laser pointers at screen etc
Would rather sit with me feet up at home with a few beers and watch dvds on me great big telly :)

I usually just go for an adult ticket when I order online, mainly because it lets me go into 18s films and I don't want to have to produce a credit card at some desk that has a name obviously not my own. I never bought student tickets because they say on the website that you will have to produce ID.

Then a few days ago I wanted a ticket for Capote, I think. I decided it was worth possibly wasting money on a ticket I couldn't collect to find out if you really needed ID. I bought a student ticket and was able to pick it up at the automated machines. No problems whatsoever. :)

    I love Cineworld, great cinema.

They ain't perfect though. I dislike how they finish up early at weekdays (last films start at about 9ish) and the fact that most of their films start at the same periods, resulting in massive queues at different times throughout the day.

and, inversely, if you walk in at a certain time, there mightn't be a movie (any movie) starting for another 80 minutes or so.

Been buying student tickets with CC for years and never had a problem to date.

I don't mind Cineworld really. I'm sure if you go at peak times it's noisy and annoying and what not - but let's face it, that's always going to happen and it's not neccesarily the cinema's fault.

I like the fact that I can see a ****load of movies for less than 20 euro a month. And as for the ridiculous price of sweets - there's a Spar across the road that's a bit more reasonable.

And they get a decent enough range of flicks in too.

    Plus there's a bar. Yay!

The cinema itself is nice, loads of screens too...but yeah the price is mad..I went with my friend to see Casanova last weekend and the dude told us it'd gone up to €9.20 but he seemed pissed of about it too and let us in for kids price so it as okay = ) but €9.10 is way to much just to see a movie !
At least they have the early bird price though before 1 that's great.

Firstly, ever since UGC took over from Virgin the prices of the tickets have steadily being creeping up. I can't say i've noticed a difference between the cinema since cineworld took over, except the colour of their shirts.

I agree that some of the people that work in there are trinity/dcu type students who are a bit ****. I've never seen any of them fighting, that would be cool though.

I'm quite happy about the prices going up. I have an unlimited card (which i'm considering cancelling due to time constraints). So I'd prefer to see less people at the cinema. Smaller queues (yes they do, for some reason, time films in the worst possible way). Less of the "go to the cinema twice a year" time of people. Less kids.

Quit complaining. The UCI in London is £12.50 a ticket.
    That's pounds, not euros.

Oh, and there's no student discount.

In fairness, the sound and picture quality is up there with the best in Ireland.

Now > 0€ for Humdrum to ruin a perfectly good film..don't get me started ;)

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

you think you guys got it bad, carlow cineplex is about €8 for small smelly cinema. student is about €7 but popcorn is an herendous price €7 again.
its sucks and they never get a mop and do the screen floor neither so its always sticky, just dont drop your phone down there or it will lost forever, the floor takes it for its own!!!

Sorry to hear about all the problems with Cineworld in Dublin but I have to say it must be a management problem as the Cineworld here in Cambridge is brilliant and not too expensive.

No trouble with the staff (although they are sometimes just a teeny bit slow with the popcorn service) and no problem with kids acting the maggot!

They have recently changed the Unlimited ticket arrangements here too and it isn't very popular anymore.
