I think you can fix a lot just using the clone tool

Jesus lads, Am I in the right forum? :D;)

Its a competition so, the person who does the best job gets serious bragging rights on this forum and might get a pint or two if they come down to galway anytime soon!

I really appreciate this lads, My parents will be over the moon.

Those are very fixable. Photoshop to the rescue! (Count me in too :D)

EDIT: Although the photos themselves are kind blurry and soft. I assume they're very old?

Very old, mid 1930's I think? The guy in the middle of the fishermen picture is my great grandad, who was a fishing guide for "rich folk" (the guy on the left) in connemara back in the day.

The old woman is my great granmother, so im told.

Ok I've cleaned up fishermen but its over ten meg so I'll need somewhere to host it... :) Image shack only goes to 1024k.

EDIT: It is in fact 24 meg...I'd reduce the quality but in a situation like this you really want to keep all you can.

Ok I think its uploading...should be a few minutes, what with it being 24 meg. Ill edit this post with the link once its done.

EDIT: Ok, that wasn't working so I went elsewhere.

    Here's the link: http://www.filefactory.com/get/f.php?f=77a68cdbd47e213836ee1375

Looking over the image I think I may have darkened it a teeny bit too much, but that can be sorted out better if you like.

BrookieD is ahead at this stage, but can Zillah come back with a fix for the darkness and the lines on the right?

    Only time will tell...........:D

I think I'll hire some look-a-like actors and re-shoot the scene, a full color 8MP image, who can beat that? ;)

I would go for a sepia effect which is more "authentic" for old photos. The original is very dark and contrasty so that couls be toned down also.

What the hell? Those lines weren't on my version. Stupid file host (or so I presume).
