yeah basically you can search for all available wireless networks, then you basically select one, enter in the wep key (if there is even one) and then it just tests the connection.

its very seamless and i've had no problems with it...

Well I was using it my my parents house the other week (my dad wanted to see COD2 :) )
And I was in the opposite corner of the house upstairs and it was flyin. No bother at all. I'd say it was 40ft..through walls etc.

On the original post....it was very very easy to set up, no hassle whatsoever :)

People are very careless when it comes to securing their wireless network. While
somebody leeching off it to play games is bad enough, you could be really unlucky to have a neighbour (or somebody in a car outside) downloading dodgy material on your connection.
It goes to show one of the dangers of dumbing down a system so much that the average person can get it up and running to a certain extent. Wireless routers aren't like dvd players that can be plugged in and just left. They should really be installed by somebody who knows what they're doing.
But sorry. I went into a little rant there. The xbox adapter is easy enough to set up (Just protect your network!). And Well worth the money.
I can stream video from my media pc upstairs to the the xbox when it's downstairs, with out any trouble. No more dragging network cables around to set it up.

she has her own encrypted wireless network that i set up, just tested if i could connect to her neighbour's one for the craic. and it did, i didnt leech on it, just disconnected and then used the gf's....

i do know what you mean tho about the state that some ppl have their networks setup.. im sure if you picked any random housing estate, drove around with a laptop in the car, you'd be suprosed how many you'd find open...

whats the video streaming like upstaids to downstairs? is it fairly quick and stuff?

Yeah. I haven't had any trouble with it. When I was setting it up, it warned me that my router didn't seem up to the task but I haven't had any problems. I've been streaming 30 min anime mpegs over it for a while and the performance is fine. I also ripped one or 2 of my movie dvds to see how it would handle and again it was ok. The only annoying thing is that it doesn't support divx or xvid so you have to convert all your avi files to mpeg, which increases the disk space they take up.

google for transcode360: it will convert your xvid/divx/whatever on the fly and stream to your 360.

Only works under media center tho.

I've tired it. Couldn't get it to work. Seems to be a bit unstable at the moment. It was crashing when attempting to encode the files. I've googled around for the solution to the particular problem I was having. Seems quite a few people were having the same problem
