Is it just me or has anyone noticed the large increase in clowns that are in Crunch in Temple Bar.

People that dive into the pool to do widths when people are doing lengths

Couples all over themselves in the middle of the pool when people are trying to do lengths!

Using an Ipod/and or a mobile in the steam room

20 min chats when using the weight benches (when theres people waiting)

They seem to have done a massive marketing drive and are now just jamming as many people in there as they can. .. what was good gym when i joined is slowly going down the pan.

    Anyone have any comments?

Complain to the on duty lifeguard that this is unsafe. If there is no lifeguard on duty, explain to the manager, that unless there is a lifeguard on duty, people can sue the place to its knee's if an accident occurs.

Swim through them. Or, at full speed, straight at them, stop (baerly) in time, swear at them to get the f*ck out of your way, and keep swimming.
Using an Ipod/and or a mobile in the steam room
Put on extra water. Lots of steam, and you should get a similair effect that you would if you dropped one into a pint:D
20 min chats when using the weight benches (when theres people waiting)
Again, tell them to hurry the f*ck up. One person speaks up, and a few others may join in.

Gyms make their money from people who don't come. 3 weeks after the marketing drive finishes, the place should get back to normal, with alot of the people fed up, and left, or not coming as often.

The people at front of house in that place are like timeshare salesmen,i've never felt so pressured to join something in all my life, they rang me at home abouttwenty times as well.As far as the gym goes its like working out in lillies bordello, its so dark you cant see your hand in front of you and the place seems to be full of halfwits posing.

If the pool is less than 20m long and no more than 4ft deep then they are not required to have a lifeguard present. Hence a lot of pools are 19.9 metres long and 4ft deep.

    How to break your neck:

    Step one
    dive into the pool

    Step two

Don't check if the pool is

I'd never swim in a pool that didn't have a deep end of at least 2.5 meters deep.

You can drown in 19 inches of water. Technically, tho, you can drown in 4 inches of water.

Ask them what happens if someone drowns. Ask if someone is qualified to revive them. I have a feeling they'll say they'd just ring 999. Funny thing is, its the 1st 4 minutes after oxygen starvation that can really f*ck you up, I think.

sorta.. A human can survive for four minutes without oxygen before the brain damage becomes so severe there is no realistic chance of survival. So you have to be revived, or at least have oxygen administered (e.g. via CPR) within that 4 minutes to increase your chance of making a meaningful recovery. So at the very least the staff should have up to date CPR training.

Nope, they dont have anyone overlooking the pool. . .only when they are showing some potential customers around.

Have told the guys to f*ck off in the pool (swimming widths). . .they dont speak english but I think they got the message!

Not sure if I will stick around when my 12 month contract is up . . is honesly the worst gym i've ever been in.

Most places have a camera or two on the pool and the receptionist will probably glance at the screen every now and again, hopefully more than once every 4 minutes. The gym I am in have 1st aid kits but as with most gyms I would not like to see the staff deal with a baywatch situation. If we accept that most gym instructors are bereft of cv and training knowledge what chance is their that they remembered their cpr whilst at 'college'?

I know for a fact that in the gym I go to not one of the 6 full-time members of staff have up-to-date CPR training.. I know because as a First Aid Instructor they've asked me to schedule a course for them...

i go to this gym as well, its starting to get packed out of it!
full of big body builders with no manners who insist on pushing into the lift without letting you out first...
i dont use the pool anymore cos its always full with pervy lads sitting around on those chairs!
i also will not be renewing my membership
did you know that they wont suspend membership in there for any length of tme, even if you have a physical injury which prevents you from using the gym for a number of months, this to me is ridiculous!
back to phisboro gym for me, cheap and cheerful!

Stuff Crunch and its ilk.I recommend Finglas Gym on mellowes road, cheap and cheerfull and the january soccer-shirt wearing nobends have all gone!

Brooks, nope didnt realise they wouldnt suspend your memebership. . .and your right there are some dodgy looking guys who dont use the pool or steamroom but sit on those chairs staring. . .

Think ive found someone to take over my membership. . this I can see is the only way to get out before your 12 month contract expires.

Honestly its one of the worst gyms ive ever been in. . .is is just me or does it always seem like no one ever speaks english in there!!

To anyone reading this - avoid like the plague!

I joined Crunch about 6 weeks ago, so far (maybe I'm still too innocent) it seems ok. The staff were sound and pretty helpful.

Only problem I had was guy's hogging the machines, I was gonna tell them to f**k off but they were 3 massive body builders and I'm a slim 5'6" guy, somehow I thi nk they would of just laughed at me.

I wasn't aware of the marketing drive, but yeah I figure if a load of people joined they will leave soon, I was gonna join in January but didn't because I figured there would be loads of people there with New years resolutions.

I hadn't noticed anythiing with the pool, but yeah I could imagine a load of guys would quite happily sit on those chairs and "admire" the view.
