i have "Wireless PCI 802.11b/g adapter WN4201B" and a stock AMD64 system by hp. In changing to x64 should this hardware still work? would it be too optimistic to assume all stuff in system works with a 64bit processor?

As long as you're running normal windows everything behaves as normal.

You'd only start running into trouble if you were running XP Pro x64 edition. Then you'd find it harder to find drivers for stuff.

A quick google doesn't suggest good things. It seems HP supply this in their 64bit machines but it doesn't seem to have 64 bit drivers.

Doesn't look optimistic. This is a good site if you're into XP64, and you'll get a lot of info on a range of topics.

My main machine has XP64 on it and I love it! I've only had a problem with 32bit software that uses 16bit installers. Old stuff in other words. Plus there are great versions of HL2, FEAR, COD2 in 64.
