£3k Challange

As a followup to the promised 3k (attempt to turn £1000 into £3000) then I start by posting my first selection today.

I will put £10 WIN bet at SP on Beauchamp Star in 3.40 at Southwell.
I will also put £5 EW on Hedgehunter for Gold Cup at 23.0 on Betfair.

Very poor racing this week.

Ardglass 1.50pm Wincanton £5 EW.

This is the best value for money today, was 11/2 on Betfair this morning now 5/1, take the price . Not great trainer/jockey but everything is going for this horse today and it should be placed if trying.

Should be some better bets at weekend with higher stakes.

It was 8/1 forcast price, backed down to 13/2 this morning when I checked on Betfair.

I will put this down as a 5/1 winner though as it was 5/1 when I posted the tip.

Thats +£50 today and +£20 overall. (With £10 exposure).

Hope you were on it today - I hope for some more big ones soon. I would advise a bet on hedgehunter, its guaranteed to run and I think it will go close although Mick Fitzgerald tipped which is bad news:D

Hedgehunter was today confirmed for the Gold Cup. As earlier predicted its price has dropped from 23 on Betfair to 16.5. I may also reccommend an ew bet on Kingscliff next week.

I think at this stage the value is starting to go out of Hedgehunter alright, I got him ew at 22/1. I don't hold that high of regard but we will see closer to time. I think Pricewise has indicated that he will be tipping war of attrition.

Another nice one today. Thank God that one in 2nd didn't win cause I was going to that too along with Fenix. Lunar Crystal needed better ground today, only for that we would be looking at a top 2 finish I think.

Anyway, thats +£30 today.

Current Bank is £1050 with £10 exposure. At this rate its going to take me 60 weeks to make £3000 so I will up the stake after a bad run.

Overall a good start with £50 profit made with £5 and £10 bets.:)

Missed out on another winner which was 5/1 early price but happy enough with my day.

You cant bet each way on betfair. Only win or place. And the place market is not the same as doing a horse each way. 9 times out of ten, you will not get 1/4 of the odds in the place market, so it doing a win and place bet on betfair is not the same as an each way bet. It is a whole seperate market and the prices dont correlate to bookies e/w odds.

Thats right but not far away. All profits and odds are approximate but it was actually available at 30/1 on Betfair after that and also lower so above calculations are approximate. For outsiders Betfair is way better, this horse was 20/1 with PP while with Betfair it was close to 30/1, some difference to the profit margin. If I gave all my selections today I would have been up a lot more but not complaining.:D

Ok, It would be probrally best to post a seperate win and place price imo. sometimes the differecne is quite a bit.

For example, for the champion Hurdle, Al eile is 10/1 on betfair, while his place odds are just under 95/40. So if one of your betfair selections are placed, you can't really use 1/4 of the odds. Don't mean to be moaning or anything, but sometimes the difference can be quite a lot.

Just after looking at the card again and the more I look at it the more this bet makes sense. I know that I will be getting a run for my money here with this one. The slight step up in trip will suit this horse more than any,Ruby Walsh has selected this one, the rain is pouring which is also good and the hill at the end is the real + for this horse. I really think it is layed out for this race but the question is is it good enough to win Anyway, I won't be laying this one off eventhough I got it at 22/1 , I think its a good ew bet. Im also thinking of backing Foreman in the Arkle chase but I will hold out.
