I was playing around on a classical guitar last weekend in a friends house. It was pretty crappy one and they knew very little about it or guitars in general. Anyway I liked the sound and was wondering what the crack is with classical guitars.

There seems to be many many makes. I would be looking for something good but not concert type. I would be willing to go to about 500(including shipping) and ebay/seconhand is definetly an option.

What's the crack? A dedication to tone, technique, and fingering like none you've experienced before.....

And with a good enough instrument (you don't need to spend billions).....the purest, most beautiful sound that has ever been generated on this planet.

And when you become facile with the breed, a rich history reaching back nearly 500 years (although guitar-like instruments have been found dating from nearly 2000 BC in Babylon) and continuing to the present day.

I generally speak volumes with a few well-chosen words.

However, yesterday I did not notice the second paragraph, yet there's no edit marker on your post. Maybe I forgot to actually read the whole thing.

However, in 24 hours I'm the only reply to your post. You should feel lucky....at least I kept it bumped up to the top! :D

Hey, the crazy smiley is missing!

As is the tradition in these parts, a link to Chris, The Patron Saint Of The Instruments Forum, is provided.

    *insert pacman smiley here*

Great link, Doc. The names that popped into my head for high-quality-yet affordable classicals were Alvarez-Yairi and Takamine.
(And somehow I STILL forgot to mention that in my last post! I guess the missing smiley has me bamboozled)
