Anyone else think that SG1 & SGA over use actors from other SciFi shows?

    Working backwards we have

    Vala and O'Neill mk2. (Farscape)
    That Doctor Bird (Andromeda)
    Robert Picardo from Voyager
    Jolene Blalock from Enterprise
    Odo from DS9
    Principle Sneider from Buffy

SGA isnt as bad but its leaning that way.

    We have:

    Trip from Enterprise
Colm Meany from STNG and DS9

Is there a major SciFi series they havent robbed someone from??

    What next Kevin Bloody Sorbo?

Do you think sometimes having a familiar face spoils things?

God forbid actors should seek jobs on more than one show...

This comes up alot, from time to time, for various other shows. Its a commonly accepted fact that Sci-Fi shows recycle their stars. Just imdb all of those actors and see what other shows they are in. At least 75% of those actors have been in The Outer Limits at least. Oh and the day Kevin Bloody Sorbo is in Stargate is the day I stop watching.

I notice its Michael Ironside the guest star of guest stars tonight in 'Crusade'. Im sure he's been in every Scifi Series since 'V' in the 80's :D

    Principle Sneider from Buffy

    You mean Quark don't you ... :)

As for the Kevin Sorbo bashing. You do realise that Christopher Judge and Michael Shanks have appeared on Andromeda... Or is it only annoying when Sci-fi stars appear on Stargate?

On that note (of stargate actors appearing on other sci-fi shows) Amanda Tapping appeared on an episode of the X-files.

Also another cross-over: Mitch Pileggi appeared on the X-files and on SGA.

Of course not :) I must confess I actually quite liked Andromeda

Yer man Spike from Buffy/Angel had a great recurring character on Andromeda

I'm crap with actors names. I had to look up Kevin Sorbo on imdb to see who he was and why everyone was bitching about him. Now I understand. Also didn't know Skinner from X-Files was Mitch Pileggi, but obviously knew he was Caldwell in SG:A. He was also on Falcon Crest and Dallas back in the day, plus an episode of the A-Team.

And yes, just about everyone from Startrek/Stargate/Starwars/Starbucks has been a guest on the Outer Limits. But isn't that the whole point of the Outer Limits, an all-star line-up in one off episodes.

I do understand that actors have to work and all, but it is a bit disconserting when different SF universes collide and there's actor entanglement.

Esp in a show like SGA which has a smattering of references to other SF shows, eg Shepherd is doing a 'kirk' with attractive female aliens, McKay sits down to watch an ep is the outer limits and ffs, 'back to the future' is mentioned in relation to time travel. So, SGA (in my head) should be doing background checks on actors in order to avoid confusion.

I hear ya Cuckoo but, at the same time, they could do internal ones too a bit more readily. One was particularly blatant - gee, didn't Sam's Tollan crush look awfully like Weir's hubbie? Course - same actor. And there's been plenty of other reuse (the town councilman/priest from "Demons" appears in a similiar role - but different character - in SG:A S2 off the top of my head).

They've referenced the Simpsons, as we know. And so - in their world - who voices Homer Simpson? Because, in ours, it's Dan Castellanta yet he appeared in SG1. Therefore...

And if they had Trek, did they have the various other incarnations? Becuase we've had actors from them all as mentioned. And what did those characters look like?

And what the hell is on the Sci-Fi channel at 8PM EST in the US if they turn their TVs on on Fridays? Oh I think about this too much...
