Any remember those Total Gym ads on tv with Chuck Norris? Does anyone here have one of them and how do they find them? A worthwhile investment or a complete waste of money?

Mate of mine ordered one a few years ago but then cancelled it as they sold the same thing but cheaper in Argos. I used it a bit but didn't really like it. I guess it's handy if you can't get to a gym.

If you can get to a gym then do so, or if you can buy a bench and free weights then do so.

To be honest with you, i'm sure that Chuck had nothing but good intentions when he endorsed the product, but you gotta remember that as corny as his acting career may have been at some points, he was a total and complete athlete from a young age.

From athletics to gymnastics to martial arts, this guy spent decades making his body what it was, so at the time he came to endorse the total gym he was really just keeping it ticking over and i'm sure it machines like this can have that benefit to people in there later life.

However, to build that original foundation you need to put in some solid work with free weights, cardio, bodyweight excerices etc.

Don't worry. I'm not under the impression that Chuck Norris has the body that he does because he used the total gym. I don't want to get one because Chuck endorses them.

I've used one and found it to be pretty good but I thought I'd post a thread here to get some others people's opinions on them, that's all.

I already have a full set of free weights but I'd like to get a "total gym" anyway to vary my training a bit. Now all I have to do is find somewhere in Ireland that's selling them.

Does anyone know where I could buy one in Ireland?

They have Argos here in Ireland too.

As far as I know the York ones in Argos are a bit smaller than a total gym. The one I want to get is a bit bigger than a normal total gym.

I ordered one of these a few weeks ago, I have it a little over two weeks now and I have to say that I'm very happy with it.

It mightn't be great for people who want to do really heavy weights but I find it's perfect for me and it's got the capacity for me to increase what I do on it if I get a bit stronger.

My usual weights are 35ish kg on bench press, using around 10kg for curls, chest flys and that kind of thing.

So I'd recommend a total gym for anyone doing similar weights to myself who are not looking to bulk up a huge amount.
