Ok, after reading a few posts and hearing people talking about mixing their protein in the gym after workout, I'm wondering what people's opinions are on when is a good time to mix it.

What I do is make 4 portions at night before bed. The breakdown is like this - 2 x 500 ml water bottles, 2 scoops and about 400 mls water in each. I have half the 1st one before bed, the rest when I wake, half the 2nd one after gym and the rest before cycling home. I shake them well before drinking them so it's mixed properly.

try to make them as fresh as possible i.e. only when you need to eat it. When water/ milk is added to the whey, after about 20-30 minutes it will begin to degrade, i.e. the 'shape' of the protein molecules will change. This can effect how well it is absorbed, and tends to make them taste a bit rank. I wouldn't leave mine more than an hour after its been made.

As per usual usual, G'em the good lady is spot on. I mean, your only mixing the shake with water, so if shoudn't be too hard to do it.

In answer to your question, 2 mins before you drink it.

Cheers, yea I reckoned that's what you both were going to say just not what I wanted to hear! It's just a bit annoying have to bring it in to work unmixed, i.e. to be lugging it around. I brought in a tupperware tub of it this morning with a scoop in it, and a funnel, and 2 water bottles - 1 full and 1 empty for mixing. I can leave this stuff in my locker which is good, but the locker is only small and running out of room. I'll mix it before I drink it from now on....

Put however much you want into an emtpy bottle and bring a second bottle of water/whatever or fill it somewhere. No need to bring tubs around with you.
