Desktop on its side

    Kids just off the pc, and now desktop and all icons appear on there side tying this meant having to turn screen on its side to read it as normal, tried draging taskbar to the left which would mean back in correct place but no luck any ideas thanks, tried restarting pc no luck

    I take it you mean the whole screen and not just the taskbar..
    Anyway go into display properties, advanced and you will have some sort of non windows tab.. ATI,Intel, Nvidia etc... look around and the option to rotate screen will be there somewhere.

    Your PC and its monitor have a display rotation feature they have obviously activated this usually though a keyboard shortcut.

    I would check your graphics card properties or any software that is linked to the monitor and you should find the option to go back to the normal mode.

    My NVidia 6800 has a setting to do that. Check your gfx card properties

    I am using XP and the PC isa Dell3000, tried display in control panel no good , not sure of really what section to go to and how all help appricated baby steps if u can, tried restore but says it cant restore at that date, tried a few dates

    I have seen Dell's that have a rotate feature.

    Try Control-Alt-Left Arrow (or right/up/down) - it's one of them.

    It's usally CTRT+Atl Gr(the one on the right) and then one of the arrows..

    now it's fixed .....

    right click on your task bar ..... you will see an entry in the list " lock the task bar" ....

    is it ticked? ..... :confused:

    That only locks the task bar from being dragged.. this was not the problem :D
