Rakeback question(s)

I'm confused about the whole issue of rakeback. Why would sites want to return their profits to the players? Do they only do this to players that make them a lot of money? Do they do it to keep players happy and gambling on their site? And can I get rakeback?:p

Why would sites want to return their profits to the players?
They don't, but they realise that if they can get 70% of what they normally get off a player it is better than 0%.

Do they only do this to players that make them a lot of money?
Some do but for most sites everyone can get it once they know where to look.

Do they do it to keep players happy and gambling on their site?
Yes as I said, some rake is better than no rake. Most sites are making massive profits and they a very low cost base. No site has yet gone with the "Let's only take a really low rake" model as they can earn more by charging high rake and only giving those who are relatively aware of things rakeback.

    And can I get rakeback?
Yes you can but you can't discuss it here ;)See my sig... ahem....

See Imposter's post for the reasoning behind RB
    And can I get rakeback?:p
Yes, anyone can get RakeBack, but the general rule is that you can only get RB on new accounts, some affiliates can move pre-existing accounts under their RB "wing" but only if they weren't set up through a different affiliate. i.e. the site only pays out once for a player referral. The best thing to do is look around for a decent affiliate and set up an account on a Site you haven't played before. Maybe PM a boardster or two for their recommendations, or check out www.rakerebatereview.com. But it's always nice to spread the referral wealth.. :p (you still get the same %, but one of us gets a referral bonus.:D)

    No.

Only get RB once you're under their agreement it's generally not back dated.
You have to be tracked, long story, but basically the answer is no.

There is no rb on Pokerstars. You cannot get rb on PaddyPower either but it is possible to get rakeback on that network. Again the millions of PM's you've probably got from others should tell you this (I've not sent any - to anyone) :) If you have any questions PM me or post more here.

    Ditto,

And I obviously didn't read all the post, but sorry for misleading you there slightly Imposter is indeed correct, there is no RB on either of these sites. But you can get RB on the Tribeca network on a different skin. (Although rumour has it this is ending soon  )

If any of you play through VC Poker - I can hook your existing account upto 20% rakeback - just PM me for details.

...and for new accounts - sign up to VC Poker and I can tell you how you go about getting 20% rakeback. :)

This is why rakeback threads are frowned upon. They generally lead to people saying "I can get you x% on such a network" and then the competing offers and unsolicited pms start flooding in.
I've written a good deal on rakeback in the charter and the current way of doing things is to use your sig (Click UserCP, then Edit signature) to let other users know that you're either seeking a rakeback deal on a certain site or are offering a deal.

This is the only way to do things. No exceptions.

I've no problem banning users , either new or regular posters, for ignoring the charter.

Pm me if you've any Qs or anys suggestions for the charter.
