    Hi,

When I go into a folder that has a few video files ( XVID ) in it Windows xp tells me it (explorer.exe) has encountered a problem and gives the usual send report dont send option...
    then explorer just restarts..
I went onto widnows crash analysis said there was a problem with Xvid..

What do I do now. Has anyone ever had this problem before?

    Thanks

you could try reinstalling the divx codec, from www.divx.com. it is a free codec

try playing the file in vlc media player, its freeware. that'll probably play it because it has the codecs built in so its not using the installed one. when my divx was corrupt i could only play files in vlc. that'll let you play files but it won't fix the problem with the installed codec. reinstall xvid or better yet get the k-lite codec pack. i'm not sure why you'd reinstall divx to fix a problem with xvid tbh

I thought xvid was a strain of divx but was obviously wrong.. I just deleted the video file and everything is A okay now!!

xvid is more a competitor to divx than a strain.
