Installing DVD-RW drive in a Dell pc

Just wanted to check before I went and bought. Can anyone see any compatibility issues with installing a third party dvd-rw in a Dell pc aside from the usual ? I've come across motherboard and case size issues in the past even though I presumed they would be standard ATX sizes on a PowerEdge server (which they weren't). Anyone see any problems, or could it possibly be model specific ?

It's a friends pc so I don't know the exact model off hand.

    I understand the warranty implications.

    thanks

It will work if their is a spare molex connector, and you may need to buy a "double" IDE cable to have both drives connected, also if dell skimped on molex connectors (likely) you will have to get a Y splitter.
