Wolfcreek....i was so scared at that film my friend actually had to put his hand over my mouth to stop me screaming at regular intervals..it's one of those movies that make you go "no!! what are you doing?? Stop!! Aaargh" etc etc...I was deeply scared after it but it was a great scare...it's not really scary though, more nerve racking, gruesome psychotic terrifying stuff....the kind real nightmares are made of...

'Event Horizon' never ceases to scare the bollocks out of me... that and any of these flash-cut horrors like Gothika and Saw and the like.

It has been years since I got a good scare from a film but the Japanese film "Ju-on" had me heart doing ninty and my sleep ruined for life! Its the origianl film which the grudge was based but a popabillion times better,Honestly!! Strange how horrors in general are actual comedy?

Ju-on is not a nice films:) cost me a fortune....£5 for rental,£15 for new set of boxer shorts,£30000 lifetime subscription of sleeping pills.:D

Its in japanese though so if your not into that get the yank version. A poor subtitute but still pretty scary, the guy who directed the original was involved heavily in the remake if I remember correctly.

The Thing, I love it! especially when you watch it with lights turned off.

Even the music in that movie is scary.

Terrible terrible terrible film, not one iota scary.

Go with 'Event Horizion', proper scary stuff, sick to boot and a killer plot!

I just bought Event Horizon the last day. One of my all time favourites.
Eh.. whats scary. The Exorcist really got me and I'm not ashamed of admitting it either. Switchblade Romance maybe, but thats kinda extreme.

Exorcist.....Totally but you gotta watch the directors cut with the crabwalk. One of the biggest headfook moments of my life, timeless horror.

Wolf Creek is a worthy film, particularly to watch with a girl/boy friend. It delivers on most of what it promises... Good bad guy, "scenes of mild peril", a little bit of tension, a couple of low chuckles... Perfect for someone who wants a night with a scary movie that isn't trying to be ironic but is still trying to be more entertaining than terrifying.

    He directed it.

Wolf Creek isn't scary at all, I thought it was dull.

You won't be able to rent the Japanese grudge (Ju-On), and I know it's too late anyway ;) , so get the US version (The Grudge), it's still good and directed by the same guy (Takashi Shimizu).

Event Horizon is good, but Candyman is my favourite non ironic horror film. In the Mouth of Madness is a bit silly but fun as well.

In fairness, we can suggest movies untill the cows come home but at the end of the day, what you really need is a good atmosphere.
Sort that out and the muppets could terrify you.

Wolf Creek wasn't bad but took an hour to get going.. but it was mildly effective in that i (somewhat) cared about what happened to the 3 main characters. But it was far too slow and dull in points. Quite over-rated!

Going to watch 'Hostel' tonight - haven't particularly high expectations but i'll give it a go!

The films that scared me most recently would be The Eye, and A Tale Of Two Sisters. The latter especially put the ****s up me like no film I've seen before. I'd also recommend The Others, as it's just a really well made ghost story, and it's got plenty of atmosphere.

    A Tale Of Two Sisters
Seconded for ultimate chill factor... only watched it twice, too spooked to watch again.
