So this is a hand from a satelite tournament I played in, top 3 qualify, 4 runners left and I am leading in chips

Level VIII: 50 Ante 200/400 Blinds (25 Minimum Chip)
Average Stack: 11,250 (3,000 starting chips)
    Remaining Players: 4 (15 started)
    Seat 3 : wittycop starts with 11,275
    Seat 4 : cooker3 starts with 14,975
    Seat 6 : LXA_Chopper602 starts with 13,700
    Seat 7 : tenman starts with 5,050
Seat 7 : tenman has the dealer button
    >>>DEALING HOLE CARDS<<<
    cooker3 dealt down As Ks
    wittycop posts the ante 50
    cooker3 posts the ante 50
    LXA_Chopper602 posts the ante 50
    tenman posts the ante 50
wittycop posts the small blind 200
cooker3 posts the big blind 400
    LXA_Chopper602 raises 1,200 to 1,600
    tenman folds
    wittycop folds
    cooker3 calls 1,200
    >>>DEALING FLOP<<< [ Ah 5c 6s ]
    cooker3 checks
    LXA_Chopper602 bets 1,150
    cooker3 raises 3,350 to 4,500
    LXA_Chopper602 raises 7,550 to 12,050 and is all-in
    cooker3 calls 7,550
    LXA_Chopper602 cards were Ac Qd
    cooker3 cards were As Ks
    >>>DEALING TURN<<< [ Jh ]
    >>>DEALING RIVER<<< [ Qs ]
LXA_Chopper602 wins 27,700 with two pair, aces and queens
    tenman: nice cards
    cooker3: omg
    >>>SUMMARY<<<
Hand Ended: Friday March 3rd 6:04:13 PM CST 2006
    Total Pot: 27,700
    Board: [ Ah 5c 6s Jh Qs ]
Seat 3 : wittycop (small blind) lost 250, folded pre-flop
    Seat 4 : cooker3 (big blind) lost 13,700, showed hand [ As Ks ]
    Seat 6 : LXA_Chopper602 bet 13,700, won 27,700, net +14,000, showed hand [ Ac Qd ]
    Seat 7 : tenman (button) lost 50, folded pre-flop

So the question is am I stupid to call the all-in bet, I'd still have 9000 in chips, I put him on A J/Q/K and was clearly unlucky but still do I put my chips at risks when post and folding would very likely get me what I need?

Fine call, you were ahead all the way til the river. Although I would have pushed pre-flop, nice to pick up these 2,000 odd chips here and now. Or else I re-raise All-In on the flop, but either way all the chips were probably going in at some stage.

For me, it would depend on how good the short stack was and if u felt happy that you would qualify. I would probably have went all in pre flop and left him with the decision.

In satellites, not a good idea to take chances when on the bubble unless you have the short stack. Usually i would say u were right to call the all in but maybe not in a satellite.
