Define bankroll?

How does everyone define their bankroll? I imagine for some, perhaps most, it is a set amount, €X, that may be divided up between various sites and a bank account (such as Neteller), and if they lose it all, they won't be playing any more poker until they save another 'starter' roll. For others, a set amount they give themselves per week / month? For example, €100 a week max to spend on <€50 buy-in tournaments.

How about money you have sitting in a savings account, not being held for anything in particular - do people consider this part of their poker bankroll? I ask because I don't have any set concept in my own head of my poker bankroll.

Your bankroll is all the money that you have in the world that you can afford to lose playing poker.

My poker bankroll consists of money I hold online between my neteller account and various poker accounts I have.

I play with the intention of not having to re-deposit on top of this so I stick to the limits where I can afford to have a downswing.

For live play, that's entertainment and is not included in my bankroll, but then again I don't play live very often so it's easy enough to manage. All results go into my tracking system regardless of live or online, and at the end of the month I take a % of my profit out of my online accounts and leave the rest behind to build up my bankroll.

My poker bankroll is the money I have online, the money in my irish bank account (although I do pay my credit card from that if I use it - which is seldom) and the money I have in cash in the house for use as live poker money.

When I started I deposited 100€ a month for the first few months and occasionally more if I blew what I had in my accounts.

The one thing I find myself doing now though is thinking in terms of seperate live and online bankrolls. I should possibly be playing higher online and if my all the money is one br I should be playing higher live too*.

*although i'm not sure if I can beat the 4/8 limit holdem in the casino so moving to the 10/20 mightn't be a good idea - although the players are better and good cards actually hold up occasionally unlike at 4/8 which plays like .50/1 - that's limit poker - would online! The 10/20 is more like 3/6 maybe 5/10.

This is mine as well. If you really "don't intend to redeposit" and will give up playing if you lose all your money online, that's the same as not being able to afford it. I don't really mind how much money I deposit online so long as I don't have to get a job.
