upgrading hot water cylinder

have an old copper indirect vented cylinder, that needs replacing.
    any upgrade options worth considering?

there is a constant draw on the hot water and the heat is almost always on.

the gas boiler output is only 16kw min 18 kw max (tho its old so the max is less i guess), the primary sys is old gunbarel, these will both need replacing eventualy. i want to future-proof the cylinder for when this later project is needed.

if i stick with a vented cyl will i get any benifits now, out of a rapid recovery over a highly insulated cylinder, or do rapid recoverys hog the boiler output?

any diverter valves or switches or 's' plans, worth putting in now which wont require pulling up floorboards?
