Water Snakes ?

    Are their water snakes in sea water ? and how do they breathe ?
    they don't have gills do they ?

    Check out the old reliable Wikipedia. Glancing through it, it states they're confined to oceans, namely the Indian and Pacific, so yes I guess that confirms they live in sea water and living at sea exclusively would indicate to me they can 'breathe' underwater by whatever fashion that enables them to (gills, whatever).


    God, it goes to show you what boredom will make you look up on the net in the middle of the night :p

    snakes don't have gills, they're reptiles so can't have them.

    Reptiles do have a very slow metabolism as they are cold blooded meaning they can store up a lot of oxygen and eke it out over a long period of time, but they come up to the surface to breathe.
